I wanna know how can i run FTP from my home PC? i have lots of stuff for sharing, can anyone please guide me in detail?

Once you have the FTP services installed you need to port forward port 20 and 21 to your server. This setting is done on your DSL/Cable router.
So what are we sharing now? :)

FTP uses port 21 for commands but 20 is used for data transfer, no its not windows thing.

You don't need port 20 opened, at least I never had to open that as long as port 21 is.

That's where the difference is on whether you want active FTP or passive, would help in running quotas and stuff.

Well, you have to tell us what kind of router you are using and what kind of internet connection you are using. The second relates to whether you have a single IP address or multiple, if the latter then you would need to setup a Network Address Translation (NAT).

I am using Maxcom DSL .....ZyXEL modem....single IP i guess
