You can make gajras with different flowers.

These look very interesting!

BTW, did anyone try and make their own?

Re: flower garland for bride/groom.

Do-it-yourself flower garland (haar, gajra):

You will need:

stems of fully opened flower blossoms,
Fishline
A Needle,
Scissors
A spray bottle with water
Ziplock bag
Ribbon (around 2 yards)

Clip the stems off all the flowers so they can sit flat.

Cut a length of fishline to match your required measurement.
Thread a needle through the fishline and tie a knot at the end of it.
Push the needle through the bottom of the flower and repeat.
String together all the flowers until the garland is full.

Tie ends together and then add ribbon!

Tip: Mist the garland with water and keep in the fridge overnight in a ziplock bag.

i’ve made mine myself with artificial flowers, the one you use for decoration in vase,coz i wanted to mae it myself and coz i don’t like real flowers on my skin

my friend’s cousin made hers and they were lovely, i saw her make some for another wedding and it looked as if she used clear fishing twine. Also she used fake pearl beads from a craft store to sew on, it was lovely:

also my best friend did hers and they were just plainly done on a string by some white lady who charged an arm and a leg. totally not worth it! So i say experiment with cheaper flowers, get used to it, make sure to keep the flowers fresh and in the fridge as soon as it’s completed so they don’t wilt and die before the wedding and all should be well. after all who really looks at the garlands?

My mother got flowers from costco and made the flower jewelry at home. It turned out pretty good.

ive been asked to make flower jewelry for bride on her mehndi, I can manage the garlands, but don’t know how to make the earings, and teeka can anyone help?

Also what flowers would you recommend?

Just use wire instead of plain thread to make earrings…curve the wire into a cirlce and add a earring hook at top. For teeka you need smaller flowers threaded through plain thread…Its just the order of the flowers that makes a good teeka. If this doesn;t help let me know I’ll try to explain with more detail

I’m getting married in 3 weeks in Chicago. And I was looking for someone in Chicago who could make garlands/gajras/boutonnières for cheap? Or if you girls know of local places here where I can find flowers in bulk to make some things at home? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
