Hi guys,
Im having difficulty finding any nice shaadi haar for the groom and his family at the barat. Could people please post some pics of any nice ones they have seen so i can take them to some florists and see what extortionate price they are going to quote me :p

Or you can also try making them at home or getting someone in your family to do them. For my nikkah, my neighbor and her mom made like 20 garlands for the groom and baraat along with those hand gajra for the women. We bought roses and those white flowers (dont remember what they are called) in bulk and it was very cheap.
If you get them made, they will cost you anywhere between 3 dollars a piece (for boutteniers, spell check please) to 20 bucks.. maybe even more.

Yeah actually making them at homes a good idea, think that might be best coz we need loads of them and they are sooo expensive!!!

oh okay. i've seen the ones with roses and jasmines, but i think the one i wore had carnations too...not sre.

google a wholese sale floral place open to public in ur area i placed an order for 50 red roses for my eng. centerpeices and i got each long stem rose for $0.70 cents each whereas the regular florists were selling it for $1.50+ a rose saved 30$ doing it this way...where do u live?

pakieyez we used crochet thread from hobbylobby or any crafts store..100% cotton, and not too thin..
you can also use twine.

yea i sooooo do not like the indian haars it doesnt have tht paki look or touch to it...its easy to make urself thankfully we have a huge paki community here in NJ and have women who make them at home either u can provide them with flowers or they can get thier own but im more for providing them with my own flowers...also if anyone here lives in the NJ/ NY area there are really nice haars sold in jackson heights NY and are reaaaalllllyyy nice ones they dont have a website otherwise i would have posted it here but if you go there u can find them everywhere they are really common there.
my friend’s cousin made hers and they were lovely, i saw her make some for another wedding and it looked as if she used clear fishing twine. Also she used fake pearl beads from a craft store to sew on, it was lovely:
also my best friend did hers and they were just plainly done on a string by some white lady who charged an arm and a leg. totally not worth it! So i say experiment with cheaper flowers, get used to it, make sure to keep the flowers fresh and in the fridge as soon as it’s completed so they don’t wilt and die before the wedding and all should be well. after all who really looks at the garlands?

I remember a GS member posted pcitures of beautiful garlands she'd made, and some instructions. I can't remember who it was, and can't seem to find the thread though I have tried searching.
