How to hold on to Power

Re: How to hold on to Power

if I remember correctly it was Yahya another army guy who was the ruler of Pakistan at that time.

Re: How to hold on to Power

Why could he not keep corrupt elements away by proving their crimes and putting them into jails?

He sets rules, he deletes them, he alleges people, he forgives people, whata flip-flop. The only reason you guys love him is cuz he has kept forex building up, to some extent economy as well, you guys ignore his lies, his cheating and other abuses. He could easily become a monster-in-making if not checked early.

Re: How to hold on to Power

Reserves increasing due to the aid not Mush. yes God Bless Paksitan and God save Pakistan form Mush. :jhanda:

Re: How to hold on to Power

i have no idea what you are insinuating? if you are suggesting that being bankrupt is better than having $16bn in reserves, then you are welcome to your opinion. i however dont waste my time discussing issues with people who think 16 < 0.

Re: How to hold on to Power

and how does Musharraf's stay in power ensure that we will see such person's rise? for all we know, he is a negotiator and criminal himself.

Re: How to hold on to Power

Yes. Thank god for giving Pakistan a leader like President Musharaf for what has been a most challenging time. Long may he continue.

God Bless President Musharaf. God Bless Pakistan. :jhanda:

Re: How to hold on to Power

Of course if you are only looking at money then yeah $16 billion is good, but then many people fail to look at the bigger picture.

Re: How to hold on to Power

you are completely misinformed. during musharraf’s reign, foreign currency debt has gone up by only $4bn while reserves went up from <1bn to 16bn. in contrast, during the decade of democracy, pak’s debt went up from around $20bn to $36bn while reserves went down to less than 1 billion. if you want, i can provide multiple sources to verify these numbers.

Re: How to hold on to Power

I said aid (begging bowl) not debt. Read my post.

Re: How to hold on to Power

Ehsan Bhai, who wanted to grab and hold onto Power despite comprehensively being beaten by Mujib in the general elections. In his desire to stay in power ZAB lost half the country. ‘Udhar tum Idhar Hum’ were the famous words used by Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto for Bengalis.

God Bless President Musharaf for keeping Pakistan together despite the challenges this great country faces. :jhanda:

God Bless Pakistan. :jhanda:

Re: How to hold on to Power

this is from a pakistani paper which are generally second rate sources on the matters relating to economics. this information however can be backed from other sources:

“…Pakistan’s total stock of external debt and foreign exchange liabilities grew at an average rate of 6.2% per annum in the 90s – rising from $21.9 billion in 1990 to $37.6 billion by end June 1999 and further to $37.9 billion by 1999-2000. After that, the figure remained almost same as far as total volume of the debt is concerned. But after re-basing the GDP three years ago, this came down with the size of the GDP growing from $65 billion to $144 billion…”

question to ask is what happened to the $17bn borrowed in the 1990’s before musharraf took over?

Re: How to hold on to Power

Who was incharge of the country Military or civilians, one word answer would suffice.

Re: How to hold on to Power

actually aid given to pak is about $1-1.5bn per annum. this is a small percentage of total fx inflow which roughly speaking last year was $30bn (17bn exports + 5.5bn remittances + 7bn fdi). bottomline aid makes no difference to pak economy.

Re: How to hold on to Power

If Musharraf was incharge at that time, he would've done the same, may be he would have done it peacefully though through negotiations, give the reign to even more corrupt elements there.

Re: How to hold on to Power

A military govt. whose deputy PM and Foreign Minister was non-other than Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, the man who tore up the Polish UN Resolution that could have saved Pakistan. Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was threatening to break the legs of those of his MNAs who had the temerity to attend the scheduled National Assembly session in Dhaka.

God Bless President Musharaf for keeping Pakistan together in this very challenging times. God Bless Pakistan. :jhanda:

Re: How to hold on to Power

Simple one word answer, don't catch Saleem's habits of 10s of useless paras when you can provide shorter answer.

Re: How to hold on to Power

to summarise
1) Mush is good because there is nobody else
2)ZAB split Pakistan because deputy PM's rule the country
3) Pakistan is doing well because the sole indicator for a countries success is forex reserves

I'd call it laughable logic even for the most uneducated but that'd be insulting the uneducated :D

Re: How to hold on to Power

Truth hurts doesn’t it. Especially when expressed so beautifully. :hehe:

God Bless Presdient Musharaf. The saviour of Pakistan. Unlike Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto that lost half the country.

God Bless Pakistan. :jhanda:

Re: How to hold on to Power

Twisting words and history. He only agreed to go to UN to help Pakistan and was then made the FM. Before that he was not in the govt. Read history man.

Secondly are you saying that because Bhutto and Yahya broke Paksitan we should forget what this mad man is doing to Pakistan to save his kursi. He is even more dangerous. Please try and refute the things I have said in my first post. If not than obviously you are trying to divert the attention away from the failure of this dictator to other things.

Yahya was the ruler of Paksitan he held the elections and it was up to him to handover the power to the elected govt. Why did he not do that? Mush holding rigged referendums and rigged elections and killing innocent people to stay in power, is he any different from ZAB. Much worse I would say.

Re: How to hold on to Power

That is what Moin.ul.Atiq says too.
