I am sure all women would love to have a fast labour. My friend’s labour was just 20 mins! Astonishing! My midwife would tell me to prepare my body for a problem-free delivery and that the more you walk, the more you will progress and your risk of having a c-section greatly reduces.
Are there any positions that help you whilst in labour e.g. standing or squating in a bath tub etc? Does acupressure realy open you up and relax you? Does eating dates help in stimulating the uterus? Anyone tried this? Has anyone heard of castor oil helping? Or using almond oil to facilitate in labour?
Has anyone heard of the homeopathic medicine, *Caulophylum 30 (*or Caulophyllum 30) which is taken every hour during labour to help open the cervix? Some say it works wonders others say it doesn’t! Anyone here ever tried it during labour?
Please could share any tips you have on having a fast and easy childbirth?
Try to walk as much as possible during labor, and avoid being hooked up to monitors and kept in bed if you are not having problems. Some say that raspberry leaf tea can help stimulate contractions and tone your uterus, I'm not sure if it speeds labor. Women typically labor the longest with the first, so don't expect a 20 minute labor - wait till your fourth, when they practically fall out on the way to the hospital, LOL. I would avoid homeopathic medicines just because of unknown complications. Just walk as much as possible and stay active.
umm actually if this is your first , trust me , you DONT want a fast labour.
You should try and walk alot, that really helps.
Even when I was in labor, they had me walking the halls, and that progresses things up.
Please dont take anything else, like homeopathic meds...dont know about you, but I'd rather play it safe at such a crucial time.
Castor oil will give you the runs, and that might give you some strong contractions, but I really dont think it speeds things up.And in those final days, I dont think you'd like running to the toilet every two minutes.
My first one was born 20 minutes after I arrived at the hospital too! My doc didnt have enough time to get there prior to the event so some intern had to deal with it lol. 2nd and 3rd took much longer and were so much more painful - they broke my water for them and my labor just stopped...so they gave me that nasty, nasty Pitocin. Do ANYthing (including cash bribes) to avoid that stuff man...its pure pain and hell-on-wheels.
Have your ladies heard of "Maryam kay Phool" My mom had them during my youngest brother. Only took her 20 minutes. You get them from Saudi Arabia. When the woman starts feeling contractions you put them in a bowl full of water & wait. It fastens up the whole thing & makes it easier too. Amazing thing is watching the flower blossom when the child comes outside.
^never heard such a thing as maryam k phool
i would say don't use castor oil as it can b dangerous for the kid.
as for things that induce labor other than walking n standing many swear on spicy foods n sex.but i think its depends on individuals n every body is diff.

When did you go to the hospital for 1st baby i.e. how many cm's?
Did you do walking or exercise during pregnancy btw? :)
My cousin's wife gave birth to her first baby 2 months back and she was overjoyed about how fast and easy her labour was....I asked her the secret and she told me that she kept reading Surah Inshiqaq, Ayat 1-5 throughout her pregnancy....

Its not like having a water birth. I'll ask my mom & give you better details in a day or so InshaAllah. My brother is almost 10 now so I vaguely remember it.
It is one of those Islamic things. Like how Muslims believe that Zamzam water has "shifaa" in it. Maryam kay phool are something like that. You don't drink or eat them. As soon as the woman starts having contraction you put those dry flowers in a bowl full of water. Those flowers are not like ordinary looking flowers. They are huge, dry & look like they are made of hay or something. Oh I wish I had a picture. They have something to do with Bibi Maryam giving birth. They basically help the woman with the pain. We are five siblings & except the youngest one all took an average of at least 7 hours. Abrar was the only one who came out in 20 minutes.
Will post more information later. If you know someone who lives n Saudi Arabia you can probably ask them & they might know.
Okay so Reading Surah Maryam & Surah Yaseen helps a lot. For the flowers as I mentioned someone who lives in KSA can get them for you or someone who goes for Hajj or Umrah. They are usually sold at stalls near the holy places & called Zahratun Maryam I guess. These flowers come from the tree/plant that Bibi Maryam held while she was having labor pains & that's why it is said to help a woman who is in labor. Also these flowers never die. You can use these flowers again & again for pregnancies. Mother told me she gave hers away to another expectant mother. Hope that help iggle :)
i hav beenraised up in KSA .all my siblings,my cousins born n raised there.n surprisingly i never heard abt it.i heard maryam ki booti but never phool.well it seems superstitious thing to me.
Mum is right! Hehe! But it sure sounds amazing esp' as the flowers never die!
What colour are those flowers btw? :)
How the color of hay is... Its kind of hard to explain. They are round in shape but they look like how a dried up piece of wood might look like, but not dark though.
That tree still exists? Amazing! I would trust any flower or leaf from that tree! Hehe!
True that. I have already told my mom that when my time comes she has to somehow get these flowers for me :)

I have seen its miracle in front of my own eyes. I along with my father went to the hospital when my mom started having contractions & my younger siblings & two uncles were at home with 2 of these flowers. Abrar was born at 12:40 pm. Me & my dad were anxiously waiting outside in the famly area. Right at 12:40 we got a call from home asking if its a boy or a girl while the nurse was walking towards us to give the news. They had seen the flower blossoming & being kids were very excited if something did happen (as my mom delivering Abrar) A lot of people in Dubai don't even know about that. As far as the superstious part is concerned I wonder what your take is towards Zamzam water :)
I took red raspberry leaf and nettle tea starting week 35. Some days i drank 5-6 cups of it, and some days i couldnt drink any. At my 39 week appt i was surprised to learn i was 3.5 cms dilated, without any painful contractions. The painful ones came the same night starting at 7 mins apart. I labored at home teh whole night. The next morning at the hospital (9am) i was 5 cms dilated. I delivered that afternoon after they had to break my water (4:40 pm). I have nothing to compare it to but the contractions were somewhat bearable until noon. Not sure if the teas helped or all the walking did but i was walking till i hit transition. By then, no position in the world was comfy enough
