I used to be really slim and hated when people used to say 'you're so skinny'. *For some reason people don't think comments about been skinny are offensive but if you were to approach an overweight person and say 'you're so fat' that would be rude. *
If you want to gain weight buy some of that body building weight gain powder, eat normally but drink 1 milkshake a day make sure you do light exercise also. Your want the weight gain to be slow no more that 1.5-2kg a month in order to minimise stretch marks.
B/c being skinny is never bad and isn't unhealthy (well to a certain extent)...its always being fat that's considered bad and there's many assumptions about a person's character/habits b/c of their weight...(I guess theres negative assumptions about being slim as well)
But yeah, noone should get rude comments, I just think ppl who make rude comments against skinny ppl regarding their weight just have no manners and are probably jealous.

That is so not true. The latest studies actually say otherwise, google it up.
Having said that, i think it entirely depends on the individual what keeps them happy. One shouldnt care so much about what others say or for their approval. The main goal should be that you are healthy and fit, doesnt really matter what the weighing machine or the measurement tape says.

I'm sure Sara516 was not referring to underweight individuals as the ones who are healthy, being overweight or underweight is equally unhealthy. :-)
im 5'5 and i am now at 48 kg, i still need to put on some weight but im soo happy that i managed to gain those 2-3 kg in 4-5 months.
basically what i have been doing is eating more, fruits/veg , nuts, and more of chicken/egg etc. oh and milk!
i havent been good on following any exercise though, have to work on it .. :D
and yes, the comments you get from ppl are not fun!
yeah... you hate it when people call you skinny but believe me you hate it even more when people say you need to lose weight... and then you realize it was sabotage all along... :@
Pregnancy weight gain is natural, but gaining a proper healthy weight is a different thing, normally Womens eat beyond their limit , they think they are pregnant and they should eat a lot ..a lot doesn’t mean eat whatever you want.
Keep your meals balanced. A meal should have a healthy protein source such as fish, lean meat, chicken or legumes plus two or three servings of vegetables. Green vegetables add lots of vitamins, phytonutrients, while corn starch potatoes and add extra calories.
Eating is not ample. We all need to captivate, in some kinds of physical activities to convert our food intake to healthy mass. This conversion can take place only with proper exercises. People who truly understand how to gain weight quickly do so in a healthy manner with proportionate muscle mass gain.
Not all carbohydrates act the same way in a person's body. While many carbohydrates are digested and turned into blood sugar, other carbs act differently and, while digested, are not readily turned into glucose. Some carbs have virtually no calories and pass through the body without digestion. The FDA has not yet focused on this important biochemical difference and treats all carbs as the same. In fact, the FDA defines carbohydrates (in the current Nutrition Fact Panel) as anything that is not protein, fat, moisture, and ash. For the low carb dieter, this "Carbohydrates by Difference" approach does not distinguish between standard carbs which should be avoided and those that are acceptable for low carb dieting.
cant believe there are people going through the same as me…i always thought i was the only one with this problem. Iv always been skinny hardly ever gained weight but i eat well and good portions too.
i have the same problems as you lot…in laws always saying something, extended family and visitors commenting too. What i really hate is when on odd days you eat less then you normally would bcoz your not that hungry and then someone says thats why your skinny coz you dont eat
Bugs me so much when people pay attention to how much you eat when you know yourself that you a good eater and that your not starving yourself.
People said to me then when you have kids it will all change…i have one child, a lil 2yr old princess MashAllah…im Still skinny though…how many kids do i need to have before i pile on some pounds
Another thing i find upsetting about being so skinny is clothes not looking right on you coz you dont fill out in them properly. I would love to be toned size 12 uk currently i wear size 6-8 uk. seems like a really big mile stone for me to achieve.
Eat healthy diet, food rich in omega 3 essential fatty acids such as tuna, salmon, flax and walnuts. Foods that are good source of protein like meat, fish, poultry, nuts, seeds and legumes. Do some resistive exercise, exercise is also important for healthy weight gain. Resistance training exercises, such as lifting weights, will help to increase your muscle size.
What really bugs me is that people can never be pleased with someone elses body.
Two years ago, I used be a lil on the heavy side, and desi ppl/families would tell me to lose some weight.
Not that i have lost the weight and am skinnier than most of my cousins, they tell me to gain weight.
Will they ever leave my body alone?
