F16 could (and IMO shouldn’t be gotten afterall if we are getting JF17s) be delayed while the AWACs deal needs to be finalized as god knows when PAF might get the chance again if the deal is cancelled now!!!

Actually their number of downed peacetime jets is going down and indian bureacracy apart, india will induct new jets (unlike Pakistan, which is getting stuck with its own “flying coffin” mirages).
I hope we fly the libyan mirages instead of scraping them as our own mirages… well…

One more news comes out from Indian defence minsitry that IAF would buy 210 new aircraft instead of 126 .

India will increase the number of Medium Multi-Role Combat Aircraft (MMRCA) stated by defencenews sources.
It is now clear that IAF would go for two different vendors and at least one of them would be from US.So we can hope that 210 new MMRCA + 40 new tejas would be in IAF scenario 2008 onwards. Tejas number would likely to increase upto 200 from 2012 onwards.so lots of flying killer macines are on its way.

I don't think with sweat deals (and kickbacks) coming to indian bureacracy from Russia or good jets precedence like that of France, IAF will not buy US jets which come with strings attached (look even at previous Pak experience).
Most likely IAF will go for an advanced version of MiG-29SMT or maybe more Mirages (i'm betting on fulcrums!!).

Yes dear Kickbacks are realities in all defence deals all over the world.But I can assure you one thing at least one vendore would be from US it is quiet sure now. Yes you may be right that main contract would go to either France or Russia but beleive me US is also going to take a big Pie out of this shopping due to various political reasons.

I thought the carrier was coming equipped with fulcrums (with IN paying for jets and upgrades to the carrier only..).

The mig-29Ks were offered as part of the package but supposing the IAF does get the superhornets are they comaptiable with admiral gorshkov?(in that case will be operated by the IN)

I am not an expert but even now Admiral Gorshov is being expanded (its flight deck as it was basically a helicopter carrier) to carry the MiG-29s and I think the US carriers are bigger than Gorshov to fly the hornets!

Yes ofcourse the USN carriers dwarf all! But is this Groshkov one of the Kiev class ships previously known as Baku or is this a new class altogather? I think the original complement did include the fulcrums.But most probably the Yak-38 forgers were used(as was common with the Kiev class) along with the helicopters.

I don't believe IN is going to get hornets for this carrier (the deal is set with Russia) but could for future carriers (as IN plans to evolve into a four carrier navy in the future able to challenge and/or work with China and US in the region).
