Over rated does not mean poor.
Saying something is overrated at 10 does not make it a 2, maybe an 8, but to use that as an argument to say something at 6 is better because a 10 is overrated at 10 is not logical.
Yes they pick the best and most driven and the competition is fierce but it is the exact same case in top public unis and even in unis which may be not as highly ranked as a whole but a particular department is highly ranked.
Top unis are not solely surviving because they get bright students who will do well anyways, and they are not the soul crushing dog eat dog environments that the author in his personal opinion makes it out to be. They are refining someone with potential and polishing them to be able to do that.
