how to arrange household chores without maid for 2 people in home mean have to do wash cloths , dishes, making food ,moping and all things from where to start first
Re: how to arrange household things
Depends on how often you do the laundry, cooking and cleaning etc .. so I will just give a general response :
I normally cook every alternate day .. or sometimes only twice a week .. Helps in budgeting as well as managing work load
Cleaning the whole house almost every alternate day as well .. Sometimes bathroom needs extra cleaning so I do it in the morning almost every day .. everyday wala mai its just the seat , the sink and the mirror
For dishes, every day obviously. Laundry is once every week or once in two weeks , depends on how much laundry I ahve collected.
Daily routine: breakfast management , do the dishes immediately after so they dont pile up .. midday cleaning or cooking which ever one is needed .. lunch management and doing the dishes immediately after , on laundry days , I do the laundry in the morning as well .. if there is no sun, they all go in the dryer , but if its sunny and not raining I hang the clothes just for a couple of quick minutes ..
right as the clothes come out of the dryer, I iron them so that gets sorted and doesnt linger on ..
yeah , thats about it .. Oh and one more thing, I organize the cupboards once a month .. mine and husbands .. also organize the drawers then ..

thnks alot:) u really give good advice with detail ..can i pm if i need any advice
Re: how to arrange household things
I try and split up the tasks each day so everything doesn't pile up- I work full time and don't like the spend my weekend stuck doing housework. The bathroom gets cleaned every day, some days I will dust one or two rooms a day and spread the laundry and ironing out over the week. Hubby very kindly helps tidy the house and vacuum and we do a cleaning blitz every evening for 10 minutes to make sure everything is in its place. We don't cook much (MIL demands we come to her house to eat) but when I do cook I will prep the evening before and tidy as you go along.

Re: how to arrange household things
just saw your message cancerian. Since you are going to cook everyday .. you can do the following routine:
Breakfast management and doing the dishes.
Midday, you can clean half the house , dont have to do it all in one go. you can do the other half the next day. That way you wont get overly tired. or you can do the dusting on one day and the floor cleaning on the other day.
Afternoon, lunch management and doing the dishes.
you can then spend time cooking, because its just the two of you, it wont take more then an hour or hour and a half .. the easiest way to cook is to multi task. Chop the onions and get them into the pot on heat so by the time they are done, you have peeled garlic and ginger and chopped the tomatoes ..
Vegetable chopping takes time, so if its taking time, do it first and keep aside. then start the cooking process. if its meat, it doesnt take that long to wash it.
finally, evening time, dinner management and do the dishes.
The only tip I can give is, I used to hate doing the dishes all the time, so I would do the cups and glasses and plates regularly through the day and the spoons and forks and knives all in one go at the end of the day ! made me feel less pressured !

Regards Laundry, do it in chunks. Are you using a washing machine? if yes, then do the whites first, then next day, do the colored ones, you can keep a few bedsheets and that way you can do the sheets and pillows, sofa covers once every two weeks ..
After you have laundered the clothes, for ironing, best thing is to take down husband's office shirts while they have dried 90% .. its easier to iron slightly wet clothes. Do the trousers and the shirts for the week. you can make this your Weekend task.
Depending on how well ironed clothes , your husband likes, you can iron his jeans and stuff .. or just do it on the need basis , like before going out etc ..
Regards cleaning, you can dust the rooms not used every day or alternate day and clean the floors once a week. That should save you the effort as well.
Regards food, in my case, husband and I take dinner as our main meal time, so I cook early evening so that by the time he arrives home, food is fresh off the stove. and you can serve the leftovers for next day lunch.
Breakfast, depends on person to person, ask your husband what he likes for breakfast. If he wants something light then yes bread / egg / butter stuff will do , cereals could do too. but if he likes to eat heavy in the morning then maybe a paratha would do.

CB you give great advice! It sounds so mundane and something everyone should know but it's nice to have things written out step-by-step. I need to start doing these things now for the hubby it's nice to have an order :)
Re: how to arrange household things
hey girls - what time do you get ready in between all the chores? My hubby comes home during lunch so I'm trying figure out if I should be ready at lunch when he comes home, or if I should be ready by dinner? Also, if I'm all showered and wearing nice clothes and make up etc, then that makes it difficult to do the chores cus I'll get all sweaty and ruin my nice clothes.... solutions???

Re: how to arrange household things
Lol, I remember I never used to pay attention to this but MIL always insisted on it. I thought these were old wives tales but once read someplace that women should dress up and get ready for their husbands , and this actually has a sawaab element to it as well ..
I guess it depends. Some women like to dress up early in the morning coz they feel their day goes well that way. Some others try to finish the hectic chores first and then make themselves tidy. I personally know this aunt of mine, her husband would come home for lunch and then around 5:30 after work finished. She used to make the effort of looking tidy twice .. In the afternoon just the hair tied back neatly, dressed up neatly. In the evening she would put on some makeup and would be waiting for husband with tea prepared and all ..
All my life I saw her do this Mashallah .. she became really ill two years ago and one of the things that her husband always appreciated in her was her effort to make him happy. During her illness she cant look after herself very well. He specifically asked the maid to get her readyevery day like she used to do, coz that would make her so happy .. I could feel so much love and affection in that relationship mashallah ![]()
