is that a UK standard? they don’t let you go longer than 18 hours? a friend of mine just had her baby here in Toronto last Sunday and her labor was 21 hours. i thought my 15 was bad! yikes!
also, as far as the lying on your back thing is concerned… the beds here in l&d are like transformers lol. they move up and down, tilt at all angles, etc etc. so yes you might be on your back but in the same way when you are sitting on a chair, i.e. not really. you can be as upright as you want, and the portions of the bed can be removed to allow for an upright delivery. come to canada and have yer babies, ladies! childbirth in the UK doesn’t sound very pleasant.
