There always are people who will have problems no matter what. Yes at times I run into someone at checkout (sorry but mostly women) who look at me as if I am some 3rd grade citizen or some jahil ganwar…but most of the time their smile vanishes when they see my 400$ grocery bill and for the rest of the stubborn I know how to teach them a lesson.
Most of the time they are just jealous more than anything else that how come a “foreigner” can come into their ground and live better life then them (mashallah)…and I tell them only if they stop getting jealous they can live a better and peaceful life too. BTW, there are many who appreciate you wearing your dress too.
beside all this, there are parts of Toronto where people look at someone wearing pants-shirt ajeeb ajeeb nazoon sai like Thorncliffe (we call it Islami Jamhoria Thorncliffe ) You go to Thorncliffe and you feel like k waqat kuch “thum” sa gaya hai. Logoon k paas bohat time hai. lerkey wohi Pakistan ki tarha every street corner per kharay gappay laga rahey hain…khawateen usi tarha parosan sai aaloo paiz mangh rahi hai. People call “gorey” in that area “foreigner”

Re: How often do Guppy men, living in the West .....
how come what ever men do is not a threat to culture. But if women don't wear Indian / Pakistani attire then they are loosing their culture or if women don't cook Indian / Pakistani food at home again its a threat to culture etc etc ????? Why this burden of carrying forward the culture on women and not on men. You will see women in the west of Ind / Pak origin wearing sari / salwar since god knows when while the husbands are in a suit.
Actually I have always wondered why don't men in India wear the "national" dress to work? We see women in India wearing salwar kameez and sari to work, but you NEVER NEVER NEVER ever see men wearing dhoti kurta / kurta pajayma etc etc to work. Politicians are an exception.
If a salwar kameez or a sari can be accepted in the corporate world why not kurta pajayma for men ????????
I think kurta shalwar look really good on men…for some reason boys these days dont really like wearing it…My fiance only wear it for Juma prayer, Eids and weddings… Apparently its not so comfortable
