usually between baat paki and engagement is 2 weeks to 2 months ..
for me. it was 1 month.
for my baat paki...his parents , siblings, and his BIL came to our house...we invited my mom and dad siblings.

Our was nearly a year later. More out of convinience of timing than any other reason.

I had 1 year, but it was for logistical reasons. I'd say a few months at the most. Really if you're doing them both as functions, you really don't need both (well, I guess you don't need either). Once you're engaged, you're engaged, right?

After 2days of baat pakki i got engaged..and it has been 3.5 yrs im not married yet.

exactly 2 months. The baat paki happened spontaneously, it wasnt planned. His parents came to ask for rishta formally, and my parents said yes on the spot (this is after a few meetings and talking and getting to know each other, and my parents doing the investigation from before). And then exactly 2 months later, we had a formal engagement.

we had a 15 month gap between our "baat paki" and formal engagement because a)my husband and i were still finishing up school and b) my mil had some health issues that detained her in khi...once she got back to the US, we had our mangi right away, and than shaadi 3 months later....my susraal tried to push for a long mangni or just nikkah, with rukhsati after another year, but my mother said no way, no how....her exact words "aghar larki chaiye, to abhi laijow, warna bhool joaw, aik dafaa nikkah kardainge, tho in dono ko alag kaise rahkoongi.." Lol!

About 5 months between baat pakki and then the actual wedding...never had a formal engagement.
Reason was us being in separate continents so no need was felt to have a formal engagement.

yea, pretty much, since my hubby's mom wasn't in the states at the time of the baat paki, we held of on having any sort of celebratory gathering until she could come over, the "mangni" party was really just a family thing at my sister's house, and the first time all members of both khaandans got together..my nana and ghar ke elders really frown on "mangni's" in general, we usually have the wedding as soon as rishta is set and baat paki-fied...mine was a unique situation to say the least...lol!

Baat Paki to Engagement, was about 2 weeks. The Baat Paki was at home, it was just an acceptance of the rishta, and a date was set for the official engagement. That was in a hall with about 80 people, and was much more formal.
Then engagement to rukhsati was 3 months.

My baat paki happened in 2009..and I'm not having an engagement but my wedding is happening in 2012 because of education! :)

None? We considered our baat pakki to be the engagement so didn't have a separate function..

im prob going to have a gap between my baat paki and eng too, i thinks its all abt convenience of timing n ppl comin down. btw what do you wear on baat paki? do u go heavy or just light n simple?
