^Our baat pakki wasn't a formal event. Once everything was finalized Ammi told our close family friends who all came over and surprised me. I was in a regular cotton shalwar kamiz.

just had the baat paki a couple weeks ago :) it was a small affair with just 3-4 fams and eng will be in a few months i think, not too long...just thought id update :)

I think three months minimum. To invite all who need to be invited, prepare with dresses and gifts and venues

my baat pakki and engagement held on the same day.. the gap between these two and my marriage was by the way of just a month!

who is supposed to attend the baat pakki and what happens during it? like any rasms?
and does the couple sit next to each other and stuff? im confused because all tht rasm stuff and all happens in meetha mu so is baat paki just like a dinner?

Hey my baat pakki happened last year in sept 2010!!! And I'm getting a nikkah this December. So that makes it a year and 3 months. Main reason for the wait was that I was too young (I was 19 then) and plus the guy was in Canada and all. But if u don't have Amy hurdles. Around a month or 2 between baat pakki and engagement is good. And then 6month-1 year for wedding :)

My sisters baat pakki/engagement was same day...we just had small dinner with BIL's family and our family..my sister got ready though..there was an exchange of rings and that was it...wedding is in about 6 months IA..
My sister says that she was against the engagement thing but now after the engagement she really thinks it is one of the most memorable time you will have before your wedding...

after 1week of my baat pakki we had a small nikkah ceremony with some relatives at home....
then i got married after 2.5months....

Well, as an 'event', we just had a baat pakki with his and mine close fam. My fiance didn't want a formal engagement because he wanted to give me the ring alone with just the two of us and plan the whole thing. Which he did, and which happened around 5 months after the baat pakki.
