I think if a guy is coming over to see a girl, the girl’s parents should ask questions about the education, job, location, and family. The girl should ask the guy in private how much he makes and then tell the parents later on (if they are concerned with it). But sometimes just hearing the education and job is enough for the parents… they can guess if it’s stable job and have an idea of a salary range. Assets is way too personal… the guy isn’t a bank account. If he makes a decent amount of money in which he can afford a house and car, there’s no need to be concerned with the assets. Previous marriages and relationships aren’t that hard to find out about if you ask around within the community.
It’s not hard to get information, it’s just a matter of actually doing a thorough investigation… asking around, fb, background checks, etc. If you read the unfortunate rishtas thread, just typing up the person’s name in Google can be enough to reject/accept them. It’s a simple and free background check in itself, it’s just that some people don’t take advantage of all these resources.
