Just wondering!
how much does your tailor charge for a normal, modest trouser suit? For an average anarkali / pishwaz etc.?
Mine charges anywhere between 500 - 700 for a normal dress and for an anarkali / pishwaz the range is between 1200 - 2000.. .depending on the number of kalis, neck line, laces etc.
yes but I'v never had a good experience with the women who stitch at home :) It's really good to be able to stitch your own clothes... i tried but I'm hopeless. I can never learn. My mom is soooooooooo good at it, but she doesn't stitch anymore.

honey ur being ripped-off majorly!..my darzi charged 250 rupee for frock
imo the cheaper tailors don't do a good job. they can't handle complicated designs, nor is the finishing that neat.
it's okay to go cheap for everyday outfits, especially if you live in Pak since there you go through a LOT of clothes especially in summer. but i would never go cheap for semi formals or formals. i mean, i like concealed zips in the back, trousers with a hook waistband, if i don't have piping i want invisible hand hemming, etc etc.
yeah u absolutly right stoppit...i know when i go to my small tailour around the corner in the small city...he even dnt get wat i want hahahha n its simple
@stoppit: ur avatar always scares me wat it is it ?? it looks like a bin-monster...:S
Just got back from Pak, had the shock of my life at the price increases everywhere!!, but my honest, hard working, dedicated tailor who used to charge between 300 - 450 max 16 months ago, is now charging 600 rupees!!

My regular darzi charges some what the same, but my special darzi charges around 4000 for pishwas and 2000- 2500 for normal shalwar kameez/ pants. Of course the special darzi is AMAZING and works for a designer in defence by the name Timpi, you can totally tell the difference in stitching. I get stuff from her for special occasions. Usually i get her to do the entire dress, but sometimes I give her clothes for stitching too. I don't think she takes orders just for stitching from ppl who aren't regular clients, but it's worth a shot to try. I've had a lot of ppl copy my pishwas. I posted Timpi's info in other threads. She and Kamiar Rokni are my go to designers :)
It really depends, usually he charges 700 for a normal suit. If he’s making an Aline shirt suit he charges about 900 for that. I’ve never had an anarkali made from my tailor. I prefer anarkalis from boutiques.
P.S. I forgot to mention that if you get the lining made with your suit he charges more. I like my tailor’s work and he’s the best tailor in the world. I used to go to his shop since I was a little bachi. He still remembers me as the little girl who always used to faint in his shop
ok i was thinking that my tailor charged me more this time but after reading the posts here now i feel i was wrong...
he charged for (formal/semi-formal)shalwar kameez with lining...Rs.400

I think i know which one you are talking about. Is she the one close to lums? coz all of us used to go to the small market near lums (which has hot spot and hobnobs). I used to go to tailor nadeem who is also located in the basement. The female tailor was located in the basement of a store which is now a real estate place. I honestly don't remember the name but it's the corner shop on the main road that goes to lums.... darn my memory, but it has been 5 years since i graduated:). the female tailor (well the tailor wasn't female, but the owner was) was pretty good, my room mate was a regular, but i was faithful to Master Nadeem so i never went there:)
