If I am understanding your question Nomi - you're not looking for a dollar amount so much as a list of expenses that a woman incurs and that her husband needs to pay for.

Like the others have said, what a woman spends money on depends on the woman - some women consider a visit to the salon a necessity while others consider it a luxury, some insist that they need to eat out once or more a week, other women don't expect a night out ever, except as a treat. Thus, there is no universal or single answer to your question.

I've modified the list you and Mirch came up with to reflect the real categories - how each couple spends within that category depends entirely on that couple.

  1. Shelter
  2. Food
  3. Clothing
  4. Medical expenses
  5. Childcare
  6. Transportation
  7. Entertainment
  8. Personal services (expenses similar to a guy's expense for barber)

Well I know joint account is normally way to go but if one spouse is earning all the money, a separate bank account for other spouse gives him/her sense of financial independence

Mian , jitna gur dalo gay , utna hee meeta ho ga. The more you pamper , cherish , love , take care of her , the more she will reciprocate.
These are 21st century wives treat them like one.
What I added to the list are not requirements , but they are mere suggestions . Every relationship has it's own requirements and every relationship is unique.
