CB where are u from? because here in the USwaiters rely heavily on their tips....their main source of income is from the tips they receive and not so much their hourly wage.
I think because of some people's tipping habits majority of us suffer !
Some people so proudly go about tipping the less fortunate ... coz that gives them that feeling of power and being rich ...
but they dont realize that their tipping is putting the recievers in the habit of asking for money that is not earned through halal means !
the funny thing is , when the police take "ooper ki kamayi" thats called bribery .. when the waiters get it , its called tipping !!!!
Its a bad habit guys .. we should denounce such things as tipping ...

Again, you're comparing apples and oranges... while bribes are meant to get someone to do what you want them to do (negotiated / paid before service)... tips are given post service to show your appreciation of a job well-done.
Bribes and Tips are two totally different things...
and for everyone who justifies not giving tips by saying that they don't get tips to do their jobs at their workplace... the next time you're at the barber's or the restaurant, and you get good service, and still don't feel like tipping... how many of you will actually go to the manager and praise the service you received from the person who served you? Not many... Herein lies the difference... while at your workplace, your manager gets to give you a pat on the back and your client commends you for your service which affects your future prospects at work... it doesn't work the same way in service jobs.

There is no element of coercion in case of tipping as compared to bribery.
The police officer or government officers have authority over you so anything they get from you for doing their job is bribe.
The waiters and those in any kind of service industry have no control over making you pay a tip. They can earn their tip by providing you the best possible service they can. I never came across a waiter/waitress who would be mad at me for not tipping them. If they do that they will be fired. They are not supposed to coerce the customers into giving them a tip.

Again I disagree ... so we have a manager to pat us on the back ... but the waiter doesnt have the shop owner to give him the incentive?
very wrong concept lucid .. the restaurant isnt run by the waiters ... arent you being unfair tipping only the waiter ... they have a restaurant manager in every place you go .. its the job of the restaurant manager to give them the pat in the back ... and they too have career prospects , they do a good job , they become the counter staff , front desk staff , some progress to several other admin roles within the restaurants ...
so please guys admit is , tipping is nothing but another form of bribery ..:@:

you conveniently skipped the part where I compared the two.
Anyways, everyone is entitled to their opinions and tipping in itself is a subjective thing. I personally encourage it - perhaps because I've had friends who worked their butts off in the service sector only to get paid measly wages (often less than minimal wage) because tips are meant to account for the rest.
I know you mentioned in your earlier post that not giving tips would change this... but the system doesn't change overnight. I believe that's why in many European countries, they have fixed gratuities built into the service bill.
chicken biryani chicken khao mast hoo jao .... u wont get the tip concept coz u r nt getting any ....when u wil get som tip thn u wil realized the theme behind ... :)
I don't go to these spa services - because of the tipping issue.
At one point I added up my tipping that I gave out for EACH services - and it came out to more than $150!
I mean I can go for an extra spa service at that amount I spent on tip! or buy those D$G sunglasses I really wanted... or that $70 summer dress that looked oh so good on me!
