platinum - $45 w in-house catering - 200 guests!

Re: how much did you pay for your hall?

what does platinum entail ?

Re: how much did you pay for your hall?

well halls are here quite expensive...we pay for the rent about 3000 euro (about 4000$)...just for the hall and decoration extra...sometimes its excluded....

Re: how much did you pay for your hall?

35000rs for the hall (qasr e noor nauroze),18000rs for the stage and 365rs per head for the food.

Re: how much did you pay for your hall?

^ for an arrangement for 250 guests

Meenz, its a hall that I am looking at. It's located in Woodbridge. The room they are giving us also comes with built-in sound equipment, which is helpful. The $45 per head also includes food, drinks (non-alcoholic of course), and dessert!

Re: how much did you pay for your hall?

wow.. thats a pretty good deal !! I saw something similar to that at Paradise Banquet Halls. The rooms were BEAUTIFUL @!!! They also had a extensive menu selection - the only reason I didn't go for that was because the family thought it would be too far.

Re: how much did you pay for your hall?

My wedding will be in the states. The hall is $5,000 (approximately 400,000 rupees). Food is an additional $55 per person (4400 rupees). Decor is $20 (1500 rupees). Drinks are $2 (160 rupees) per beverage (non-alcoholic, of course). And then there are a trillion bazillion other little details (cake, favors, DJ, photobooth, lighting, etc., etc.)

...I'm ready to be married already...

Re: how much did you pay for your hall?

I got married at one of the Marriotts and they have such ridiculous charges for even the smallest stuff. Besides ballroom rental, we had to pay for beverages, waitstaff (1 per 50 guests), maitre’d (1 per 20 guests), etc. Photographer, videographer, DJ, flowers. Catering was from NY and the caterers charged for travel, their own waitstaff, etc. Everything was adding up to so much that I opted out of having any kind of decorations for ballroom, stage or centerpieces. Not to mention, there were alot more other small expenses as well. A few people said to me, oh you should have gotten a fancy sofa and a fancy stage.. and I said, sure, if you had paid for it

Now for the rukhsati, it gives me a headache just thinking about doing all of this all over again :smack:

Re: how much did you pay for your hall?

It is soooooo expensive here wedding wise. It almost really makes you think how many can you comfortably invite? Back home you DON'T have to GIVE a number and it makes us all happy!

Here, it's like you either have an EXCELLENT event if your guest count is around 100. 250 is common number of guests. 400 is considered lavish!

Events here really pressures you into identifying who's your closest so you can invite them. I have seen people shun away from "casual" friend during up coming wedding - just so they do not have to invite them!!!!! That's so sad!

One of my friend just came back from India. She went for her sisters wedding.

GUESS how MANY were invited?????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!

Their guest count were 4000 people. FOUR THOUSAND PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!! My gosh.

We would NEVER see the daylight here if we had to PAY for 4000.

Re: how much did you pay for your hall?

lol.. 4000 is wow.
i think that's because back in homeland, you have so many rishtaydaars, rishtaydaar ke bhi rishteydaar, jannaywalas, neighbors, neighbors' families, and all the ayra ghayras. people back home know wayyyyy many more people than we do. and if you don't invite one, even if you have not seen them for YEARS, they will taunt you for the rest of your life. that's why most of the weddings there are huge with many, many people. here you invite your families, people within your community, family friends and your own school/work friends.

Re: how much did you pay for your hall?

they paid us to get out of the hall so they could close it since it was already very late to close the hall.

Re: how much did you pay for your hall?

shay, I didnt get you..already married,no rukhsati ? i guess you were talking abt nikah?

lol, yes, had my nikkah last year.. with mehndis and dholkis and all.. now will have rukhsati.. again, same stuff iA :D so glad ceremony is done and out of the way, now we can relax and have fun at our rukhsati reception and valima.

i got the best deal in the world! ( well i like to think so )
Renaissance was opening and i booked it before it opened so i got an amazing deal.

They dont allow outside catering but since it was new and thank the lord for my mom, she made them allow outside food. We still have to pay per head for the rental and cutlery and table covers etc. We pay $17.00 per head without food and now its $30 without food. We got her to include unlimited soft drinks and iced tea and lemonade for free and that runs $5 per person. And also got her to include a baked dessert table for free too. Dont ask me how it really was a miracle :) now if i got the same deal it would run me about $45-$50 per person without food!

Decorations and food and all that jazz is extra but im still so thankful

do u have any pic of the hall...
thats a great deal,
my fiance went to qasr e noor like 10 years ago ( maybe less) and talks abt it all the time...wants it for the valima.

Re: how much did you pay for your hall?

we paid about $1500 to rent the venue for the day, plus $70 per person for the cost of the tent (which they calculate at a per person cost), tables, chairs, and food. they put the tablecloths, chargers, and runners on our tables, and the florist did the flowers and the candles.

Re: how much did you pay for your hall?

^^ wow thats a lot.

Re: how much did you pay for your hall?

my hall is in toronto (woodbridge area) - for hall, all food (catered out), drinks, sweet table, violinist, stage, centrepieces, lighting, premium table covers, bridal makeup/hair/mendhi, dj, dance entertainment, videographer and photographer all included for the night, im running at about $80 a person for 350 ppl...god i love using excel spreadhseets to plan this thing!

i think its a really good deal for the kind of venue we had and the food they served up, but its all relative in the end :)
