Halls are so expensive here in the States. I will be having around 400 guest, and my reception hall is costing me $16,000.00. We are going to have outside caters which will cost around $5,000- $8,000, the hall doesn't offer Pakistani cuisine, only American. My decors are from mehndi decor and reception decor is costing a little under $6,000. Then theres so many other little expensive like Invitations, Make up cost, photographer, mehndi artist, etc.......
Re: how much did you pay for your hall?

Re: how much did you pay for your hall?
njmasti, they charge for putting up the tent since its a manual process and its not a fixed feature at parkwood estate. the good thing was we paid about half the cost because there was a wedding on the saturday before us (we got married on sunday of a long weekend) and so the cost was shared between the saturday wedding and us since they'd only put the tent up once.
the money we paid for the actual property meant we had the entire grounds to ourselves and free parking inside, which was lovely.
for the kind of venues we were looking at $1500 was a great price- i mean, graydon hall was $4000 to rent, and eaton hall in a similar price range, and their per person catering costs were $90 and up. we also went with a higher menu than just the basic one they were offering because we wanted more than one or two dishes so we could offer a variety to our guests.
in the end, everything fit into our budget beautifully mA and the biggest reason is because we had 96 guests. the number 1 way of cutting your cost at a wedding, is to cut guests, and since our budget was not very big, we invited only close family and friends. its also how i was able to do all the things i wanted to and AH didn't compromise on any feature- design, decor or otherwise wedding related.
with 400 people, my wedding would have been a completely different story and i wouldn't have been a very happy bride!
my hall is in toronto (woodbridge area) - for hall, all food (catered out), drinks, sweet table, violinist, stage, centrepieces, lighting, premium table covers, bridal makeup/hair/mendhi, dj, dance entertainment, videographer and photographer all included for the night, im running at about $80 a person for 350 ppl...god i love using excel spreadhseets to plan this thing!
spreadsheets are awesome, agreed! :)
you've got a fabulous deal!!! whats the name of your hall and how did you negotiate all that??

Re: how much did you pay for your hall?
Does each hall have a set amount that they charge per head? or is it different for every single customer?
Re: how much did you pay for your hall?
they usually have set packages with set prices, and then you negotiate to either pay less, or to pay the same but get more.
Meenz, its a hall that I am looking at. It's located in Woodbridge. The room they are giving us also comes with built-in sound equipment, which is helpful. The $45 per head also includes food, drinks (non-alcoholic of course), and dessert!
hey are you talking about Toscana?

Re: how much did you pay for your hall?
i plan on getting married outdoors at a beautiful estate in california. the place i'm looking at costs $2,500, but you can use the lawn area as well as the homes on the estates.
Re: how much did you pay for your hall?
^ I always wondered - how do you find places like these...? like who introduced you to this location?
Re: how much did you pay for your hall?
it's not hard, a simple online search for "wedding venues" in your desired area should do the trick.
Re: how much did you pay for your hall?
^ yup! theknot.com is particularly good for finding venues, as is brides.com
and of course, if you want a particular location (outdoor, estate, fancy hotel, etc.), then you just check out the local ones till you find the one you want!
