I dont know how much Dulha side will cost, but my parents are willing to spend around 25,000-30,000 pounds for my wedding IA`

Why do you want to know Cheeg? We all know ur views on weddings and stuff and you are entitled to it. but what is going to ask accomplish? so u can lecture us afterwards on how much we waste on rasams and lenghas and makeup and shopping and gifts?

I don't know about dulhas side but i'm getting married this year and i'm guessing around 20,000 - 25,000

depends on the number of guests....if you are inviting everyone you ever knew...even if you dont like them....you are going to end up with an extensive guest list....
our estimate....is around $18-20k(for reception only)..with a 100 guests...since hubby's family is in pak...and they all got to attend the nikah...(which was relatively big..150 people--only his side)...my family is here...and they will get to see the reception..so it all works out....

mirch..if its properly arranged..you can always trim the costs of everything.....and i mean EVERYTHING....by being in control of how much is to be spent on what...
you can have the most wonderful party...by not burning a hole in your wallet...

I whole heartedly agree. Mine hardly costed me $3k and $5k for my in laws. I told them no dowry please. We had a big wedding and valima party and all the rasoomat. Oh well but my wedding happend in the last century which explains it. Right ? No. It has only been 9 years since the century changed.

yeah..dowry is such a ridiculous custom...i dont think it applies anymore....or ever did...maybe people of such mentality are becoming extinct...i sure hope so...!! :) since we are to decide whether to buy oak or teak...i wouldnt let my parents pay for anything that i and my family is going to use....(small gifts aside) its just awkward...for me...and for him...to accept..beds..furniture...etc etc..
