It is free for MEN, the actual cost is paid by the WOMEN. She pays for the rest of her life.

I think a decent enuf marriage (by any standards) can be arranged within Rs. 1,000,000 (for a guy)…yeh bhi kaafi shaan-o-shokat wali shadi bata di hai bhai :~)

Sukhi raho :halo:

kis ki shaadi ho rahi hai? mujhe kyoon nahin invite kiya? :(

^ thats a reasonable sum i guess

sirf kapre hi lakhoN rupe main bante hain ....

Bhai, actual marriage cost is just Rs 300 or 400 for the nikah-khwaan/court fees. Baaqi tau sabb shashkay hein. :)

Oye moona behan jee, tum doosroN ki shaadioN may jaa jaa ker thak-ti nahee? kitni biryaniaaN khaogi. Apni bhi tau khilao.

It depends on how much you are willing to spend, like someone said a simple nikkah can be done with 1000 Rs fees to the Molvi to a 1 till 10 lakh wedding party.. err expect that most of all will cost the dullan's jewerly, cloths and makeup. I think food is cheap there!

Shadi kay baaaad…

Kya Matlab jee? :hoonh:

actually food is expensive.. there is so much food and people tend to waste a lot of it which wastes ur money.

depends where you are having it and how big you want it to be. From a few 100 to more than karoore prolly lol. i've seen some realllyy lavish weddings out there and some really simple ones too.

If you want a normal decent middle class wedding in a city, if you are the guy, it can be managed in about 5 lakhs i wud say.

abt the food....is'nt there a ban on food at marriages.

than how are ppol still able to give food...

I think the ban on food to be served during weddings is either not implemented or is modified recently to allow one-meat-dish.

The ban was only effectively implemented during Nawaz Sharif time. When fauji govt took over, they were very lax in implementing the restriction. Only big hotels were complying. In any case, even in big hotels you could get around by booking two functions at the same time. The wedding will only have tea/coke... but the hall next door is booked in the name of some taya/chacha/mama, where full-course dinner will be served to all the guests as another function. Hotel owners minted money.. cz they will charge Rs 350 per head for tea/coke in one hall (for the wedding function), and charge Rs 500 per head for dinner separately.

But right now, I think the ban is not there anymore.

i heard the ban is officially over now? but not sure...

waisay even when there was a ban, some ppl still fed their guests, making some bahana like kisi ka aqeeqa hay or something...and still had proper arrangements....

sometimes the girl's side still had to take the DEGS of food to the guy's house even despite the ban for the baratis....i saw this happenning often mostly poor ppl did this...

so this ban was nit being implemented fully anyway as there were ways to get around it and this food thing at weddings is too ingrained in our culture i guess...

not that i’m complaining

khanay kay baghayr shaadion pe maza hi naheen ata

agar ban kerna hi hae toh jahez ban kerey govt :halo:
