^^...exactly, whats a wedding without food.
I mean the valima is wajib, not exactly sure, (correct me guppies if I am wrong), in Islam.

If I remember correctly, some faarigh lawyer had filed a law-suit in the High Court, claiming the government can not FORCE people not to take care of their guests. He claimed that in Islam, one is supposed to provide food and drinks to his guests to the best of his abilities... and mehmaan nawaazi is part of our religious culture.
As far as I know, the court agreed with his points, but still did not strike down the prohibition. The court observed that before this ban was imposed, people had to borrow and go to great pains to serve their guests in a befitting manner, as this had become a matter of social standing and prestige, and this prohibition has removed this cruel custom. The ban had made it more affordable for many parents to wed off their daughters and sons. So the larger public good must take precedence over an individual's right to serve his guests. The ban stayed.
Now, the fauji government/new democratic govt, modified it, to one-dish based on "popular public demand". :)
the cheapest way is by going to a local mosque and getting married, but that will still cost u tiny bit ;)
