How much control do we have over kismet?

For example there is a rishta that you realllllllllllllllllllly like - if its not in your kismet it won’t happen no matter what you do?

Or for example there is a good rishta and despite many bumps and issues or misunderstandings along the way it still happens?

I like to believe whatever is in my kismet will happen no matter what? But then again we have to take an active role in our own lives to make something happen…

SO where does the balance lie?

Re: How much control do we have over kismet?

I think I should lie down with my mouth open. Whatever food is in my kismet should be able to find its way to my stomach on its own. Why should I bother? :D

Re: How much control do we have over kismet?

Tie the camel and then leave things on Allah.. You know no matter what you do.. if it's in your kismat it will eventually reach you..i have experienced it first hand.. If Allah wills you get to have things you possibly could never imagine..whatever happens, happens for a reason!

Re: How much control do we have over kismet?

I've always wondered about that and I wish I knew.

Re: How much control do we have over kismet?

Who knows, but if you don't try to meet people and meet families you are for sure not going to meet someone as easily as the girl who is well-networked. Or whose parents are well networked at least.

You gotta at least put yourself out there so people know you're available.

Re: How much control do we have over kismet?

^^^ I don't believe in that... i have this girl in my family.. she had her FIRT proposal at the age of i guess 22 from this boy somewhere in pindi, pakistan while the girl lived in KSA and the girls side Refused the proposal saying, the boy is in pakistan... they networked as much as they could...met many families and this continued on for 6 years untill they went to Pakistan for vacations where that VERY FIRST PROPOSAL of the boy from pindi somehow approached them again and they Accepted it....
If this is not kismat than what else is...... no matter how well networked you are untill and unless you fate is tied to the man you won't get anything!

That is just my opinion.

Re: How much control do we have over kismet?

true true, but at the same time, if you willfully closet yourself, then no one will know you're around and available, right? Moreoever, people will think that you just don't make time for a personal life, which is what I think happened in my case. I barely went out, focused on my schooling mostly, and my social interactions were with people I was in classes with and now with people at work. I have no connection with the desi community around here (mostly). So, even if there are guys looking, they don't know about me. Whether that's in of itself is fate/kismet, or if it's me dodging my kismet, who knows.

Re: How much control do we have over kismet?

in your example camel is probably something worth taking risk for.... would you rather do this to your child or to your parents? leave them to some unknown place or among unknown people and go home and sleep....?
on the other hand a poor person whose only source of income or last food to his family is his camel is going to tie his camel and then go home and hope for the best?
....

Inspiron.... balance is what your common sense and your circumstances tells you to do ....

:D :D

Re: How much control do we have over kismet?

With rishtas (and most other things) you do what you can and leave the rest to kismet :)

Re: How much control do we have over kismet?

i agree with this. you have to make effort and work hard, bc without that life would be very boring. however, we do get whatever that Allah taala has decreed for us.

Re: How much control do we have over kismet?

I guess until inspiron gets married, we have to read about her rishta's one way to the other..

Re: How much control do we have over kismet?

^I think we will be reading about them even after she gets married.

Re: How much control do we have over kismet?

Ya know inspiron..i believe in our destiny. Whatever is written..will happen but with time. Everything has it's time. Insha'allah..bright and shine inspi.

Re: How much control do we have over kismet?

At the risk of slaughtering the hadith...it's kind of like the story of how this guy came up to the Prophet (SAW) about something and the Prophet said to have faith in Allah but ALSO to tie up the camel. So I guess...try your best (ie: don't be passive) and when you've done whatever you can, THEN leave it up to God.

Re: How much control do we have over kismet?

I always believe in making efforts to the best and then leaving the outcomes on Allah. You should never regret in the future that you could do better in making efforts. I want to have satisfaction that I tried 100% and even if the outcomes are not what I wanted, I accept it as Allah's will and my fate. I don't want to end up thinking and regretting in the future that I didn't do what I could and thus didn't get what I wanted.

We don't always get what we want. But after making all the efforts, we should accept whatever is in our fate.

Re: How much control do we have over kismet?

The only thing that can change Qadr/Kismat is the power of Dua.

Having said that, Allah swt provides us with choices, it's then our free will to 'choose' what we want, thats the free will bit...even though Allah swt already knows our decision prehand...

hence YOU need to make that decision, which will further affect your life, doing it according to the sunnah, praying istekhaara and doing lots of dua is the best way.

Re: How much control do we have over kismet?

p.s. I agree with ashi, a lazy lout who cannot be bothered to work and says it's in my kismat to be broke or destitute? NO! You need to strive, work hard and grab the options and bounties laid out by Allah swt with all your might. It doesn't come free, and we still have to strive....

grab the offers laid out to you by Allah swt, that's where you come in..Your actions and decisions lead to your fate.....

Re: How much control do we have over kismet?

Some say good karam can change ones kismath.

Re: How much control do we have over kismet?

You do your best, use some common sense and leave the rest to Allah swt.
