How matchy do you wanna be?

**I think a bridal outfit is the main focus of a wedding and everything including the decor just falls into place when a colour is finally chosen. Matching accessories, makeup, nail colour, mehndi glitter, invitations and dulha’s attire is fun but, how matchy is perfectly matched and what goes over the top?

Post a few examples, please.

So, are you a contrast girl like me  or would you like to match?

Re: How matchy do you wanna be?

I thnk the last 3 are okay…but the first ones…no way.

My wedding lengha was shocking pink…with lots of colored kaam and a “chatta” of ivory/greenish blue etc…for some reason the stage decor was blue adn purple. go figure. :hehe:

Re: How matchy do you wanna be?

You know as bizarre as this may sound..that couple look so matchy they almost look like bro+sis :s ..personally i wouldn't like me and him to be that matchy..for example if i wear a red lengha with gold kaam then i would llike him to wear a goldish sherwana with red kaam on it..so we do look like the bride and groom but not twins :s ...or if he's going to wear a suit then i would like shirt/tie + handkerchief to match my outfit. :) i think that's as far as i would like it. no compltely matchy like that last couple in your photos!

i would also like the decorations etc to not match me but instead contrast me.. subtle colours so attention is not so much on the decor but more on me..i mean ahem on the newly wed couple :P

Re: How matchy do you wanna be?

Horrendous^^
and I agree w/ Cuppy up there, subtle matching or contrasting is key as opposed to straight up matching like the examples Mahi posted up there. And as for nails, I LOVE NAILPOLISHES! except I hate designs so I’d def. paint my nails to match my lengha. For example, I wanna wear a jade-green (like the picture below) mixed with silver-grey. Something like this:

I could def. see myself doing a French manicure but rather than a pink/beige base, I’d make the base match the green-jade from the lehnga. Green-jade is my favorite light color so I’m def. doing that on my valima.

Re: How matchy do you wanna be?

two things i hate: super matchy nailpolish, like the first pic Mahi posted in this thread- maybe i'd do blue on my toes for fun, but on my hands no way! it seems a bit juvenile, imho.

and second, super matchy jewellery! i'm all for contrasting your set with your jora for a bit more interest. i'm not a fan of the sets with the precisely-matching coloured stones. my sil to be's valima jora is champagne and peacock blue. we opted for champagne stones in gold jewellery and everyone was like why didn't you get blue? because peacock blue stones look hideous and SO FAKE yuck! plus champagne is so much more elegant, not to mention practical. she'll hopefully be able to re-wear her set many more times because its so neutral without sacrificing beauty or style. its one thing to wear rubies with a red outfit or sapphires with a blue, but to match orange stones with an orange set is just bordering on offensive :p

Re: How matchy do you wanna be?

Ditto^^

Re: How matchy do you wanna be?

**^^Same here.
Not tooooo matchy and not tooo contrasted.
Something between the two options.

And I don’t know why I love the pink shade in the second dulhan’s hair

Re: How matchy do you wanna be?

i would go wid matching bag and jewelery but make up and hands nooooooooo wayyyyyyyyyy

Re: How matchy do you wanna be?

oh, and 3, matching dulhas! he does not need a peacock blue tie or a pink or a red sherwani, poor guy! he should be neutral in either ivory, some shade of tan/gold, or black. dark dark blue-black or a really deep grey, or a really dark brown are also all acceptable lol his tie should hint at her dress colour subtly or his pagri. that is all.
:p

Re: How matchy do you wanna be?

i like it when people match the grooms pagri with the bride's clothes.. but that's about it.. i don't like it when people match too much.. they look like siblings! haha

Re: How matchy do you wanna be?

Yeah, a red paghri with a black sherwani matching the bride's red= hot.

Contrast please! :hayaa:

Nothing more scary than a red bride with red jewellery, red bags, shoes, eyeshadow, lipstick and nails.

Re: How matchy do you wanna be?

Matching makeup is THE worst^

Re: How matchy do you wanna be?

I have a story. I was visiting Niagara Falls a few years ago and I saw a sikh couple. The wife was wearing a black kameez with a fine print on it and her husband was wearing a matching turban. We laughed at that for days!

And another story. A lady was wearing an orange and pink saree so she decided to match her lipstick. She had an orange lipliner and filled in the lips with pink lipstick

Contrast please! :hayaa:

It’s not only scary, its just WRONG!

Contrast all the way! Especially with jewellery, shoes and bag. I’ve seen how having everything ‘pristine and perfect’ takes away the ‘glow’ from the bride. Matching stages, and napkins to carpet patterns…really.

Re: How matchy do you wanna be?

Agreed! Matching nails+makeup+etc is a HUUUUGE NO NO! i'd like french manicure on both hands + feet. Don't want matching eyeshadow - i hate that! i want jewellery shoes and bags to contrast to make it more special and not look like a barbie!

Re: How matchy do you wanna be?

this is what my husband and i wore for our mendhi

Since our nikha was also at the mendhi, at first i had my face covered with the dupatta my husband is wearing and later on we put that dupatta on him.

But that was only day we did the matchy matchy thing.
