If given an opportunity to become independent and form part of a loose confederation, how many states in the US do you think will contemplate breaking away?
I think places like california and floraida should be cutff and Miami should replace chicago
Most of the midewest and California for sure! ![]()

New York will never reach its full potential till its bogged down by Baltimore. Matsui, seriously think about it.
Cape Cod and Key West should form the Conch/Cod Republic.
Admit Israel to the Union, and make offers to Haiti, as we have troops ther most of the time anyway. Make the same offer to Cuba.
Cool idea....
But the issue of states rights vis-a-vis Federal Govt caused one Civil War, no state would risk another on its conscience...
Faisal, baltimore is like our chota bhai..whereas LA is like our mistress. And SF is basically our gay butler.
some southern states would like to break away from the damn yankees as they call them. in the deep south there still exists the notion that the south will rise again,
Th esouth will rise again is about as dumb a notion as the khilafah will rise again.

what ever you say, but i have heard it enough times to really feel that southerners still have that feeling in their heart about losing the civil war...
aray, we hear things all the time..doesn;t mean they are gonna come true.
Faisal, here's a crazy thought – why don't we draw a straight line Philadelphia through San Fransisco and call it the Canadian-Mexican border – all problems solved.
^ Hahaha.... Yeah, make Matsui a Canadian. Now thats a thought. Buhat bolta hai.
Breakaway states....hmmm:.....maybe.....
Texas
California
Florida
I don't think it is ever going to happen. From East to West and from North to South, these people are ethnically quite same. No problem of language or culture.
I think one of the reason for 9/11 if it all is done by Americans themselves was to unite the nation. It seems American are more united than ever.
Faisal, the world is mine. ![]()
Now..Thats a brilliant Idea. ![]()

I could be wrong, but my understanding is that the US is already a 'federation of states'. There aren't many other countries that allow their states/ provinces to have their own flag.
Remember, there are only a few things that a country can call its own - its flag, its anthem and its (postage) stamps. Currency used to be part of this list, but that could fade away. Stamps would take a bit longer, I think.
Give back California, Texas,Nevada, Utah,Arizona,Colorado, Wyoming, Kansas and Oklahoma to MEXICO since it was theres in first place!
An article that I read proposed that there was no chance of separatism in the USA for around the next 50-100 years at least.
Beyond that, several states with rapidly rising Hispanic populations may, if integration is not successful, develop a distinct enough primarily Hispanic identity to cause political tension with the potential for seperatism to take hold.
The gist of the article was that hispanic immigrants are failing to integrate into the USA like other large immigrant groups (German, Irish) did.

By that logic, we should give Istanbul back to the Greeks....
