How many people deactivated their Facebook account?

Re: How many people deactivated their Facebook account?

^^ BANG ON

Re: How many people deactivated their Facebook account?

PCG- i totally agree with you that leaving fb is not a solution. in fact we should fight for r rationality.

side note: the Communities on these forum are sometimes extremely defamatory. i dont know about you that how you gonna feel, but my blood boils after i see communities, where the very first thing- title, is** calling names** to ALLAH SWT (Naozubillah) and Prophet Muhammad PBUH (Naozubillah).

Re: How many people deactivated their Facebook account?

Likewise when muslims in Pakistan try to destroy Buddha statues, how do you think that makes Buddhists feel, and the rest of the community that appreciates art and history?

When muslim individuals abuse Christians or Hindu minorities in Islam, how does that make desi Christian and Hindus feel?

When Pakistan has placed the Qadiyani citizen status to nonexistant in Pakistan, how does that make Qadiyani families feel?

When muslims make fun of Christians and their belief in Jesus as son of God, how does that make Christians feel?

When muslims make fun of Jews and blame them for all their problems in the world, how does that make the average Joe Schmoe Jew minding his own business feel?

Do you not see how difficult it is for members of our community to take criticism about their religious beliefs, and yet are we giving others the same tolerance that we expect from others?

It huts me too to see people making fun of my religious beliefs. However, it does NOT hurt me, when someone says to the entire world "I don't believe in Islam, because of X, Y, and Z". Because that's their personal opinion, and they've thought it out. I'd rather they reject it after having thought it out, than not know about Islam at all or have misconceived notions about it. That's where my pen steps in and that's where our CONSTRUCTIVE efforts to battle confusions about Islam should come in. What's constructive is to get these people to understand

a. Muslims are human beings, and as such, any human rights violations apply to them as would to any other race (ex. Abu Gharaib prison abuses).

b. Islam is a religion of peace, and the concept of Jihad is grossly misunderstood, and has, in the past been misapplied.

c. Muslims are not out to get people to convert so that they can control the world like Nazis. That what you saw in Afghanistan is not how things should be run.

Until muslims are united on these ideas, and are willing to put forth these messages in a peaceful and constructive way, we're not going to accomplish anything by whining about free speech on facebook. And you know what? We're not united on these 3 points. There are muslims that will come outright and say that Islam is NOT a religion of peace (refer to Amanpour's documentaries on Islam). We have the Taliban movements in Afghanistan that clearly did not exemplify a proper Islamic environment to me. We have muslims in NWFP and Balochistan thinking that a woman's rightful Islamic place is at home and not in school, and not in the workforce. We are so torn regarding the basics of our religion - we don't even all pray the same way, and even that'd be fine, except we burn each others masjids over things like that (refer: Sunni vs. Shia violence in the South Asian region).

So, do I feel boycotting facebook is going to help? No. But if you come up with a plan on boycotting irrational and violent muslims who are making life hard for the rest of us (refer: discrimination ag/ muslims in college and workforce) and the rest of my muslim people (refer: Abu Gharaib prison abuses), then talk to me.

Re: How many people deactivated their Facebook account?

PCG !

Shirk ! I wonder how does it Makes ALLAH feel!

he said it in quran ! didnt he ?

  1. Say: He is Allah, the One and Only;
  2. Allah, the Eternal, Absolute;
  3. He begetteth not, nor is He begotten;
  4. And there is none like unto Him.

and here we are worried , how does one of his creations feels if we mock ( well we shouldnt be mocking but we have to be clear-eyed , when required )
their false God . why cant we tell them

I worship not that which ye worship,
Nor will ye worship that which I worship.

As am the only desi and muslim fella at my work place , i get hell of mocking for me religion and prophet !

its not only us Muslim , you will find bad homo sapiens every where ! going from bad to worse every given day !

Re: How many people deactivated their Facebook account?

There is a big difference between mocking and telling someone that you don't worship what they worship.

The Prophet never mocked. He shared his knowledge and tried to be a leader.

Big difference. The fact that many muslims don't understand this speaks volumes about the education and understanding of our own faith and of God.

God's punishing us - our izzat is mixed with mud. No one respects our community. No one takes us seriously. And you still don't get it. We don't have the right to hurt other people. We will not justify our existence and our beliefs this way, let alone lead people to the "right path".

Re: How many people deactivated their Facebook account?

Who read all these long posts :cofused:
The thing is … U want to delete ur facebook account .. go ahead .. but if u want to delete ur FB account cuz its has anti islamic communities … its time u realize tht rather then deleting ur account u shud start promoting the true face of islam … so tht all the ppl who hate our religion wud change their mind set …

i hope i was clear

Re: How many people deactivated their Facebook account?

PCG

Yes indeed he neva did , but pardon me we got some lackadaisical fellas among us and most of us aint sophisticated or soft shell as prophet Muhammad (P.b.u.H) was ! He was God's best creation !

And valid , what are we missin here is a leader , a doyen who could use or teach us how to use our raw passion in a positive manner !

Re: How many people deactivated their Facebook account?

^^nominate me as ur leader :d

Re: How many people deactivated their Facebook account?

Being sophisticated and soft-shelled isn't that hard. It begins by setting aside your ego. We dedicate an entire month to condition ourselves into setting aside our ego. Its called Ramadan.

What? Did you think the point of it was to starve yourself, just so that you could have a bombshell of an iftari everynight for 30 days, thereby putting on more weight in one month than you do in a year with all those ghee-filled galebis?

Nay, good sir. It is meant to make you soft as butter.

Re: How many people deactivated their Facebook account?

That's what's wrong with our "qoum". You can "female dog" about how what someone else is doing is not going to solve anything, but in the meantime what are you actually DOING? I saw atleast 8-10 ppl here who criticized my action. Maybe deactivating may not have any effect, but maybe it will.

How are you any different than your local barber who has the answers to all the problems on the planet but at the end of the day he's still cutting people's hair.

Re: How many people deactivated their Facebook account?

PCG- lets first clear out the concept that YOU HAVE TO BE RESPONSIBILE FOR YOUR ACTIONS and OTHER GONNA TAKE RESPONSIBILTY FOR THEIR, on the day of judgement.

your bring of buddist example, and dragging other religions in to the discussion is enough for me to recall a saying that "a fool first gonna bring you to their level and then beat you with their experiences"
