Here is the ruling from my wife on wedding functions.

Dulha and Dulhan are the two people who enjoy the least and spend the most so they better save money …so nikkah sadgi sai and modest function.

yeah, your wife is right. I also believe on sadgi kay sath nikkah. and actually a big fan of nikkah at mosque.
