Salaamz all,
question here: how many of you would wear a hijab/niqab/burqah if it was mandatory?..would you oppose…why or why not?

If complete Islamic Shariah was to be implemented, I would definitly wear hijab (well..I already take a chadar everywhere I go ).
Now why would anyone oppose hijab in a complete Islamic state?
Who says nothing is impossible? I've been doing nothing all my life!
HSHTSA,
many would.....
looking at and observing the female pop. of pakistan adn taking into consideration the effect of teh indian channels on them,,,,MANY WOULD!

In a compete Islamic country, there won't be any Indian channels and there will be proper religious education.
Who's going to oppose then?
Who says nothing is impossible? I've been doing nothing all my life!

I would like to ask this to all the pakistan muslim girls out there in the westren world.
Why do you insist on not wearing the hijab here in the western world even though its prescibed on women to do so ?
For those of you who do wear hijab,
HURRAY MUSLIM GIRLS..!
soryr..didn't notice this post before....just like GQ said...observing the Hijab is mandatory.
** Surah Al-Nur (the Light) (24:31) in the Quran states: "They (the believing women) should draw their head coverings over their bosoms...". . Surah Al-Ahzab (34:59) states: "O Prophet [PBUH] Tell thy wives and daughters and the believing women that they should put on their outer garments; that is most convenient in order that THEY MAY BE RECOGNIZED (as Muslims) and not be molested." **
Wearing Hijab should not be forced upon girls, but under Shariah law it would be compulsory.
It’s weird the way people (esp some women) regard it as a negative thing.
It’s the same for men, keep a beard and everyone things your a fanatic..
I ask you.. was our beloved prophet a fanatic?
CoolDude
Aray, here everyone is saying “yesy”, “yes”, and there in the other thread, they were saying “mind your own business”, “there are other things to do first” blah blah blah…
Is it a change of heart, or is it merely the fact that the warriors have spent all their energies in the other thread and are now too tired to continue this debate here…?

If you ask me, both men and women should adhere to islamic principles of hijab. It is not a one way traffic. While women should not display their zeenat, the men should not ogle at women. In an ideal world… ahhhh!
Take care…
Don’t Blame me…

I think Muslim girls in the West conform to Hijab much more vigorously than do girls in 99% of the so called Islamic countries of the world, Pakistan included. And similarly, men go to mosques much more often in the west than they do in say, Pakistan. And where women do observe complete hijaab, its more because of the fear of the government than for the fear of Allah. Hijab and other islamic laws are mandated by Allah, and a government shouldnt have to mandate them. So even though Islamic awareness if a requirement for each and every muslim around the world, I think its a more pressing need for the 'muslims' living in 'islamic' countries.

Akif…
In Pakitan, we tend to take things forgranted. Everyone around us in muslim, we are muslims, our parents are muslims, so in a wierd subconcious way, we assume, we will be blessed on the day of judgement…

All though not 100% correct ,lot of womens behaviour is determined by the men. There are men who want there wife & daughters in hijab here or anywhere else do just that. Then there are men & i 'm sure you know a lot of them who act as if it doesn't matter to them what there women do .There reason why you find women objecting to forced hijab or burqa is that there is difference in purdah meaning,Mmoulana Azad ,always preached that it was not essential to totally segregate women though covering of hair & exposing just the face was hijab enough. But then ultra orthodox jamaat & groups discounted his opinion although he was arabic speaking as his mother was pure saudi woman.Only problem with making a law is that in an illiterate country like pakistan it will be missused, like blashphemy law, honor killng law ,hadud law. What will happen i may be in hijab by my understanding with hair &all skin adequately covered ,but just b/c 'm not weaing burqa ,.some nut in bhawalpur only insisting on burqa can take the law in his own hand if we make such laws.
I dont see many gals participating on this particular post. Does that mean the answer to the above thread is NO.
I would love to know their opinions and reactions.
Still waiting
bye
Hijab is important part of Islam. It's compulsory to wear Hijab (fard) just like 5 times daily prayer. It does not matter which society person live in, Allah have made Hijab or scarf fard and a women who follows what's fard in Islam should always wear Hijab or scarf.
I'm not in favour of those girls who things wearing hijab is old fashioned or feel that they don't want to get ashamed wearing scarf in front of there western friends cause they feel ashamed.
To those who things that way and not wearing hijab for that reason, what is going to be your explanation in front of Allah (swa)? I hope you can give better explanation on that day. Allah would not accept your lam explanation.
Other reason is if you don't have
respect for your religion then you don't respect your self. That means other people don't have respect for you.
May Allah guide all of us to the right path.
Alia
ummm... i'd like to wear hijab.... but ummm.....
