Anyways, it would be ideal if our money was not used to wage war against our people, but i guess somethings are not avoidable. But some things are.

Interesting :) I wonder how she pulls that one off! Esp. post 9/11 lost in thought
You're right about poets like Javed Akhter and some others who write for movies. Here and there, they do manage to come up with something good. But I think Gulzar still writes from the heart and thus his 'songs' don't become as popular as most of the others.

Actually this was before 9/11 that i had that lecturer. i dont know what happened after 9/11.
I have read some Urdu short stories by Gulzar and they are awesome. Never read his poetry though, just heard chayyan chayyan a few times :D

Mehnaz its true yaar, I'll have to agree with proudpakistani here.

The level of decency in dramas has surely gone down. Just look at "Geo Love Stories" and you'll know what I am talking about. The stuff they show was never shown before.

Plus girls are dressed more liberally now, and gender interaction has become more casual. You'll observe a huge difference from PTV dramas of late 80's and early 90's.

The fashion shows on GEO are just shocking, the dressing the models are doing, it was unimaginable before on any Pakistani channel.

I guess its all part of the Musharrafization of Pakistan... :/

What’s wrong with Geo’s “Love Stories”? I have caught a few episodes and didn’t find anything offensive. They have moved away from the norm and actually focus on widows/divorcees/etc. in the episodes I have caught. I think that’s a good thing that they are highlighting other peoples’ real issues too and acknowledge them.

I dunno. I’m from here though and so of course, I’m comparing it to western standards. I guess for you it is more shocking cause you are used to more conservative shows.

salam bros and sis..

well i dont know what to say.. i used to be a big fan of indians movies... i was the kind of person who barely miss any indian movie... watever is in the store i will get it.. and not just get it i actually buy the good ones... i hav collected about 39 movies in past 2 yrs.. but from last 6 months.. i have seen almost 6-7 indian movies and u can imagine.. kahan main 6-7 aik month main dekha karti thi but not anymore.. there are couple of reason.. 1] i dont have enough time 2] i dont want to spend my hard earned money on buying/renting indian movies 3] not much charm left in movies 4] tired of hearing and seing anti pakistani stuffs in it 5] sometimes it gets hard to watch it with family 6] i dont like em anymore.... i would rather wanna watch some islamic shows that comes on ary than watch any indian crap...

i used to watch every SRK movie but i dont even do that anymore....

^ Withdrawal symptoms PP007 - very common :)

I am going through the same! Although I always read the review of indian flicks before I bother spending a dollar on them :D

can someone tell me what exactly is the point of watching indian soaps. In pakistan we are making "moorat" and there they are making "sas bahu" crap. Not to say that we don't make those types of dramas either but it seems every drama of their is about some struggle of a girl.

Boy, i am really having trouble controlling my tongue against some of the pakis in this thread. Better leave it alone. SIGH I guess what people watch is their own damn business. But...... oh never mind!!!!!!!

welcome to pakistan my friend. watching bollywood tramps dancing in the rain is most welcome, however, god forbid a muslim paki gal points out what really goes on in our society. OFF WITH HER HEAD. ISLAM KO BADNAM KAR RAHAY HAY YEH “GANDI” LARKIYO NEY.
