How many of you avoid Indian movies/dramas

The indian movies/dramas are nothing special. they are all about “us kee kok main mera bacha meri kok main uska bacha bla bla” and all this bs.. :yukh: :nook:

indian media free since 1993 :roman:

I try to avoid the indian movies and dramas to my best! I am mostly into western movies, and i watch only ones with good stories! :)

People will never be happy...first it was the black and white, then it was the "standing next to a pole song." Then it came out to guys in tights doing excercise type dances and now its young girls with no clothes.

I wonder what the next step would be.... hmmmm

according to being muslim we should avoid to see all type of movies and listening all type of music but to encourge indian film industry is really really worst.i was also fan of them but i had a guilt also.so i always tried to quit.now i am proud of me "sometimes"that i left all that crap.but i alsoavoid to see any movies and listen any type of music.some one said that my parents taught me to respect all religions but do you know what Allah says about jews.will you follow your parents or your Quran?try to sort out every matter according to your religion because we are not secular

put me on top of anti-indian list....

My tax money also goes to kill Afghanis, Iraqis, and Palestinians. Half of Hollywood is Jewish and if you dig deep I am sure you’ll find that they probably fund some Israeli agencies. So logically speaking, I should stop watching American flicks, and stop living in the US. But unfortunately my Imaan is not strong enough to do so.
The dollar I might spend on an Indian movie probably ends up paying for a few cans of coke for the video store vendor, or collectively pays his/her electric bill. If I knew that the dollar goes to fund some war then I won’t spend it. That’s why I don’t go to the concerts because most are funded by underground thugs. As far as music is concerned, download sites rock :k:
I think there are good poets both sides of the border. Let’s not get into that argument  As far as Noor Jehan is concerned, I never enjoyed listening to her

very interesting....i didn't know this type of animosity towards india existed amongst desis living in the west.

Why the heck we have to care abt Afghanis, Iraqis and Palestinians, we just hav to care abt kashmiris.

They make something other then cocaine or charas?

i used to be a big buff of indian movies [never of indian dramas tho]

recently though for many months ive just stopped enjoying indian entertainment

it seems

  • unclean
  • cheap
  • immoral
  • gaudy

i dono :bummer:

i jus dont like indian movies anymore they r so cheap

my friends seem to really enjoy the soaps on star plus but i personally cant stand them either, they seem soooo useless

still like some indian songs tho but i have never actually gone n bought music…jus hear music here n there…

waise kuch pakistani programs bhee aaj kal ajeeb se ho gayay haen, if u watch GEO k dramay u’ll know what i mean…

i’ve really limited my tv viewing now…hardly see any program which i find decent and enjoyable these days on tv…call me a bore but tariq aziz show has become one of my favorite programs these days

i enjoy either serious discussions or light comedy or nice family dramas on paki channels…

Yes Irem, unfortunately our media is follwing the same footsteps also. Eventhough new channels are good and have brought up some competition, but in this competition they try what ever is possible to impress public. So our media is going towards the same direction where it will be a time when you will not be able to watch it with family.
Thats why no one is making dramas like ankahi, tanhayyan, waris, angan tehra and many more.

That's a bit of an exagerration PP. Recent Pakistani dramas are quite good and are still family-oriented. They aren't showing anything remotely offensive. I don't see it heading towards Bollywood standards at all.

Thats a very intersting point. actually one of speakers, during my undergrad was involved in anti war activities during first gulf war. She went with a few hundred people and stayed at the Kuwait/Iraq border to demonstrate agains US invasion of Iraq untill the war started. She told us that she has ways by which she does not pay taxes and does not support the US government that uses her money to start wars.
Anyways, it would be ideal if our money was not used to wage war against our people, but i guess somethings are not avoidable. But some things are.

Come on, how can you not like Noor Jehan? She is the best.

as far as poets are concerned, i think you are right. There are good poets on both side of the border. I just liked ahmad faraz, parveen shakir, saghir siddiqi, farhat abbas shah etc more then javaid akhtar etc because i think the later write songs for movies for money. It just seems like they will write anything for money, which means it is not comming from the heart. But i think sahir ludhianvi was a great poet.

I dont have any pakistani channel here in NY. So i dont know, but from what people post here it does seem like Geo and ARY are going towards that. I am not saying that they are making things at the same level as Bollywood, but i think we have diverted away from the way PTV was for mahy years. Since i dont have any Pakistani channel here, i am sure you can tell better than me. But you are right, we are no where close to where Bolywood is.

For some pakistanis if a girl isn't wearing a burkha it means she is being "indecent". It's called ENTERTAINMENT people, ofcourse the programs will be a little bit on the liberal side. You won't see mullahs make dramas or music videos anytime soon.

Hey, did anybody watch the drama made by arabs about the Taliban? It was pulled off the air cause the extremist groups threaten to bomb the stations playing them. It was an arab drama, made by arabs ... it looked interesting.
