KARACHI, March 22: Pakistan discarded captain and wicket-keeper Rashid
Latif said on Monday that the fourth One-day International between India and
Pakistan was fixed.
Pakistan lost the fourth ODI against India by five wickets on Sunday at
Qadhafi Stadium as India levelled series 2-2.
In an interview to a local television channel, the disgruntled Rashid said that
the match was in Pakistan's hands and they deliberately lost it. He said that
the match was pre-planned and it seemed that India would win the final.
He said, "even a common man could observe that the players were acting on
a script because the body language of our players was not as it should have
been." The former captain said that he knew the tactics the players adopt,
when the match is fixed. He said losing the match after getting four wickets
so early was beyond comprehension.
He said that first three ODIs were played so well and every one enjoyed that
matches but the last one had some bad taste in it. "Pakistan made 293 runs
and that was not an easy target on such a wicket where runs were not
coming easily," he observed.
Answering to a query, he said, "I have raised my voice several times and also
wrote a letter to International Cricket Council (ICC) about fixed matches." He
said that every person related to the sport and concerned authorities know all
about match fixing and no one could deny the fact.
Rashid said bluntly that he could not keep himself quite on such issues,
which is the main reason he is kept out of the team. Elaborating on different
ways of match-fixing, he said that fancy-fixing is also part of the match-fixing.
Talking on fancy-fixing he said that the match-fixers decide before the start of
the match which player is going to make how many runs and which team will
score more runs in first 15 overs. -PPI
As rumours of betting and match-fixing circulated following Sunday’s one-day match between India and Pakistan, the International Cricket Council on Monday dismissed the allegations saying it was a “clean” match.
“It is a clean series,” two Anti Corruption Unit officials of the ICC, monitoring the series here, said on Monday.
They said all precautions as per the ICC’s guidelines had been taken right through the series and no undesirable elements had been allowed to come anywhere near the players or the dressing room.
“No undesirable element has been allowed to come anywhere near the players,” ACU officials Col (Retd) Noor Mohammad of Pakistan and Martin Hawkins of England said.
“So far the protocol has been observed.”
The ICC’s protocol includes ban on mobile phones and issuance of Id-cards to visitors of the players.
Special survelliance cameras have been installed at the hotel lobby to ensure that no match fixing activity took place, they said, adding so far neither the Indian nor the Pakistan team manager had asked the ACU to issue any special visitors passes for anyone.
“We are happy that the series has gone off smoothly so far and people are enjoying the matches.”
I’m no one to say whether it was fixed or not, but I did have my suspicions, the climax of which was when a class player like Youhana gets out at LBW… the two times that he survived, it felt like he’s saying that he’s supposed to be out on an LBW right about now. This moreso mistrustful cuz the commentators agreed that his legwork is usually flawless to succumb to an LBW – but then again, it is quite possibly just a coincidence… a curiously unusual one nonetheless!
There's no doubt that India played an awesome second inning... Dravid & Kaif were marvelous!
Although India won and let me tell u I couldn't believe it. Thought abt it a little but not that much. On the other hand, yoyo was plumb. There was nothing wrong with the whole match, until India lost 6 wickets and the last recongnized pair won the match..

There was nothing wrong with 4th ODI.india played well and that's why they won the match.it was an outstanding and sencible performance by dravid and kaif.
I can't understand why people make this type of statement after defeat. Its rediculous.
I don't think it was fixed and these allegations are just enraging me. I mean what the eff! Can't a series go into teh final match on a tied score? I mean how hard is that to believe?
Its rubbish and Rashid should stop such nosense. If the series is fixed than the last match should end in a tie in order that honours for the series are shared.
I saw Rashid's interview on the private channel mentioned above and he said nothing like this. He is on the panel alongwith Sikandar bakht who comment on the match and he did not say anything like that.
If he did that, i m sorry to say that is totally uncalled for!!
Latif has really lost it. What’s he mean by ‘body language’ telling him it was going according to script? If that was the case then why take 4 of the most crucial Indian wkts by 94! Shewag and Ganguly should have been ‘dropped’. I bet Youhanna was spanked for taking such a blinder to get rid of Yuvraj.
Shoaib wouldn’t have given such a fiery spell first up to take out Sachin with a beauty. The pakistani players looked downcast only when India passed 260.
Looks like Latif has forgotten his cricket, or he’d know Dravid and Kaif gave no chances, apart from once when Kaif got an inner edge and the ball passed dangerously close to stumps. I hear PCB is considering sueing him. This time he deserves it.
