I think you just have to go with the flow.....you can't really predetermine these things can u?
Besides you have to see how your wife feels about it as well....since mothers are typically the main caregiver AND the one who is going though the 9 months of pregnancy, delivery, and bodily changes!!!

not true, most places do not allow single men to adopt, although they do allow single women to adopt.

Depends doesnt it...like someone said just go with the flow...theres no point setting targets...You may have one and decide thats enough or you may have two and 10 years down the line want another one...its about how you feel at the time...
Im an only child it doesnt bother me and for some kids they may long for brothers and sisters...i enjoy being the centre of attention with my mum...you cant generalise on a kids needs and neither can you plan ahead...
Even people who say they never want kids can end up changing their minds...

it's interesting you brought up being an only child.
from my observation....I have noticed that the girls ( who are the only child or with only brothers) long for a sister subconsciously..... whereas boys are quite content with having no brothers and do just fine with having friends only.
i have two sisters who i am very much close to and I never looked for deep sisterly-like friendships with any other girl cause of it.

^ i have 3 brothers mashallah...so as you said above, i did long for a sister...but not anymore...i have learned to be happy with what i have, plus my brothers are sweethearts...
My elder brother/bhabi are going to have a baby girl soon...and i m very very excited.. :)

but then if i have two guys or two girls and my husband would want one more just in case i can settle on the third one but not more then that...

I m Blessed with brothers & sisters MashAllah, & we have no problem we are living a Happy Life. Having brothers & sisters around me I feel really great

That is SO true for me. I have 2 much older brothers and i ALWAYS wanted a sister. And i do have close friends that r as good as sisters to me but it still isnt the same. Thats why i was so HAPPY when i had my daughter cos i felt when shes older inshallah we'll b really close. :)

I love kids, however, I do realize the limit of the emotional and the material support I shall be able to impart to my kids.

A man who has only 1 child isnt really a man. Certainly not a jatt. Tradition requires Jatt's father atleast 4 children.
