The time taken to move on also depends greatly on the people around the heartbroken person. With the right kind of support, motivation, counseling (by friends, family etc), reasoning, talk, discussion, activity, change and socializing the time can be minimal, just a few months even for a 5+ year old ended relationship.
There are battles in life which one cannot fight alone, and there are battles in life which one can fight alone but cannot survive the aftermath of which alone without the right kind of support and love from those who care. It has to be God's blessings when people have people to hold them when the fall, and as quality people it has to be everyone's responsibility to be ready to hold those who we all care for if/when they trip.
But some scars are still scars whether they hurt or not, and some incisions totally heal up on the outside but are always painful when even slightly touched.
