You cannot move on till you want to. As far as forgetting your love well that aint happenin atleast in a lot of people`s case and my personal experience.
Pray to Allah swt to help you overcome this. Ask Him for the person He wants you to be with. I know it sounds SOOOO cliche but He will take care of you. Even if its a simple heartfelt dua sitting on the train, He hears it all.
Catty, you may have loved this person but if it isnt meant to be then your true love is still out there.
I once thought I had fallen in love...and I fell so hard I thought my heart would come flying out of my chest. I can honestly say Ive felt my heart ache. I would cry and cry and cry. Every waking thought was about him. It almost killed me because I never understood why things didnt work out.
So, I took some time to reflect and wipe my tears. I got busy with life and family. Then, out of nowhere, when I least expected it...this guy came and literally gave me so much love I didnt know what to do with it. I dont cry anymore...only smile and laugh. Im not insecure and never once think about my past when he is around me. He doesnt let me.
True love doesnt make you cry. The man who truly loves you will fight the world before he sees a tear in your eye. Now I know why things didnt work out. :)
PSqaured said it perfectly! I too was in the same situation. Initially it hurts, it kills, thank God I had school so I immersed myself in school, and slowly slowly u realize everything that happend, happend for a reason. Love is blind, when ur in love u do not see straight, u see the world through rose coloured glasses. But now in hind sight, I see that Im better off not being with him. I pray God gives u the strenght to get thru this. It not until we fall that we learn how to pick up ourselves!

@Ahsan: yes you are right - but thats partial. There are most aspects to getting over and all. I don't wanna say too much - ppl will start reflecting those situations etc on me :D

Time will heal it ....Do the things u like to do... You should become independent emotionally. Think about all the wrong doings he did to you.... There is someone else who is more worthy than him..... He is the one who is unlucky. Allah SWT does everything for a reason. Just be strong and keep yourself super bz with family, friends, and etc....

you actually never get over it.. priorities change, you move on, life goes on but a piece of your heart stays with them... if you actually get over them, it was an infatuation and/or desire to be with someone when no one is there for you!!!

......................it's a very heart-rending string. the best way out is to get urself busy in any task where you hardly get tme out to rest. your busy schedule is not going to leave any room for the past memories. although in the beginning they will haunt you but with the passage of time, life will take you with it as this is a vicious circle.
