Pray to Allah swt to help you overcome this. Ask Him for the person He wants you to be with. I know it sounds SOOOO cliche but He will take care of you. Even if its a simple heartfelt dua sitting on the train, He hears it all.

Catty, you may have loved this person but if it isnt meant to be then your true love is still out there.

I once thought I had fallen in love...and I fell so hard I thought my heart would come flying out of my chest. I can honestly say Ive felt my heart ache. I would cry and cry and cry. Every waking thought was about him. It almost killed me because I never understood why things didnt work out.

So, I took some time to reflect and wipe my tears. I got busy with life and family. Then, out of nowhere, when I least expected it...this guy came and literally gave me so much love I didnt know what to do with it. I dont cry anymore...only smile and laugh. Im not insecure and never once think about my past when he is around me. He doesnt let me.

True love doesnt make you cry. The man who truly loves you will fight the world before he sees a tear in your eye. Now I know why things didnt work out. :)

It takes as long as you let it take. They say losing a love it something like a small death. You go through the same emotions. If you've observed people who've lost someone dear to them, it's rare that they are left to sit alone and feel miserable. people are usually around them all the time to be a shoulder to cry on ,to get them busy and back on their feet etc.

My tip is do the same. hang around people, avoid being alone and jam pack your schedule with things to do, even if it's watching movies at home. The more you sit around doing nothing the worse it feels and the sadder you'll feel, because you give yourself too much time to think. Busy busy busy, and one day, you settle down for bed and realise that you hadn't thought of that person all day long. After that, it gets easier. Soon days and weeks go buy without you thinking of that person.

Eventually it all starts to feel like once upon a time it happened to someone else, not you.

sigh My comment was regarding Kitty's desire to get over the guy. Woman if you are going to whine and pine over the guy you aren't going to get over him. How many weeks has it been? Stop the drama bazzi and get on with your life. You have much more important stuff going on.

Its gonna take a long time to heal,i can understand tht ur hurting. But believe me it will get better there will b days tht u wil cry a lot and days tht u wont think of him tht much.
Try to keep urself busy, surround urself with people who truly love u and support u.
The first couple of months r really tough,think u deserve so much better. And i hope inshalah tht person wil come very soon for u..

you can NOT forget someone u really loved just because u should forget that person.. simply put, there is no way yet that one can scratch his/ her mind to remove something from it and only time helps healing. but when you truly love someone, it does not necessarily needs being in a physical relationship with the person... there are times when you love someone truly and you have no choice but to let go!

moving on in life is NOT a piece of cake... it takes at least a decade :) ... but then I believe ALLAH always gives you what is BEST for you ( the person i am blessed with as a life partner is Alhumdulillah far better than the one i wanted to be )... and you should be thankful and patient ...

I dont know what is the big deal here, half of the time women are over there bf/hubs with out hubs/bf having a clue about it.

I don't think many of people who posted here really fell in love. Yes you do forget, you move on. One of the things that matters most is how it ended. One sided, mutual agreement ... as well as how long you were together.

Yes its hard moving on. But whatever doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.

How long does it take? I have actually devised a mathematical forumla that determines how long. Its not perfect - but I am working on it. All the tests I ran on it - it came extremely close to real results :)
