You have to understand two things. You need to know which of the two things you want to work on?
1) To forget someone
or
2) To move on
*1) To forget someone you really really loved: * This will never happen. So just pray for the best for that person and find peach within yourself.
2) To move on in life: You must carry on in life. It's the most difficult thing to do, but keep yourself busy. Never compare a potential partner with the one you constantly miss. That person will never be a mirror image but he might be actually a better person who will LIFT you OUT of the situation you are in and help you MOVE on.

First of all you need to try ur best to forget tht person, and u can start by not opening up anymore threads…
first three months are the hardest when trying to get over someone, and then after tht u either forget them, replace them, or just learn to live with out them…

depending on how long you were in a relationship and how strong you felt about eachother... it can take a very long time.. you may feel like you are over that person but deep down they are still there :(

If it was real true love, then thats something you’ll never get over. It just shifts gears to something else… like loving every memory you had or something… because true love never ever dies. Ask me, I’ve been without the one I love for almost 4 years now… and he is with me in my thoughts each and every time I pray… everyday… As for replacements… no one could ever replace someone you were in love with… sure you might fall in love with another person… but that love cant be replaced…

Other wise you are going to keep thinkg about him all the time.
Specially after talking a jerk, or after/during every bad relation.
So now you could sit and wait or make that happen talk to ppl keep looking.
Life is tough thing at times, but you cant just give up.

A few weeks or couple of months? Try falling in love with someone, makes the process little bit faster.

wow - then that’s good. Every good thing comes to an end - so should the memory. Glad to hear that you would still be alive and still be able to forget that person.

To be really honest, its actually very hard to forget someone whom u once loved truly, u can never forget the memories, they will alwayz stay....Its very hard to forget!

Depends on the followings:
if you can really love someone else or not.
if you really loved the first person or not.
if you really love yourself enough to forget someone.
if you really hate yourself enough to keep thinking about it.
if you were at fault or the person you lost was. Easier if you were not. Very difficult if you were at fault.
Solution is hidden in above statements.
Hint: Try to rationalize and start loving yourself and people around you too.
