Re: How important is it for the wife to be working?
Although I am fortunate to not have to make the choise atm, I would choose work over being a housewife since I know I would be useless at the latter and therefore I applaud any woman who is a housewife because it is a very difficult and demanding to keep everyone happy and have a beautiful home. As a child, I enjoyed coming home where I knew my mum had made tea and wasn’t expected to do anything other than my homework, and wish so many times I could be as good as her at keeping home. I see many female colleagues at work who are at work till 6 in the evening, and feel for their children who do not see their mothers and do some of the normal things such as having a mother wait at the school gates - but understand that some woman do not have the luxury of having the choice to stay at home.
Studying is not only a tool for obtaining a job; the knowledge gained is a gift in itself and can be used in many ways in life and not necessarily in work environment.
