Despite the similarity between the two, which tv series would you guys think was better?
For me it would have to be how i met your mother, all the way. Haven’t watched the end so, please, no spoilers

For me Friends will always be THE BEST show ever on tv...there is no comparison between Friends and HIMYM imo

Friends is the flagship of sitcoms, especially on the theme of a bunch of friends.. There is no way you can compare it with 'How i met yr mother'.

HIMYM was entertaining but not consistently throughout the seasons. The theme for both is so different, you can't really compare the two.

The one thing I can compare though is the ending. Friends ending was awesome whereas HIMYM's ending sucked.

yes , friends was the best comedy ever. But it was just meant to be an entertainment. Friend was more of a surreal mix of facts and fantasy, an ideal comedy which conceals the bitter sweet realities of life, whereas HIMYM gets you ready for the real life, it sucks and definitely that's why you love it. That is the only department for me that makes friends the deal breaker.

The quality for both of them drop drastically after the first few seasons.
No friends picked it up after the sixth season, jokes were remodeled, plots were improved quite similar to the renaissance of HIMYM after the fifth season

There were two reasons I watched HIMYM
- Barney
- Who will be the damn girl Ted will mary.
Barney lived up to his expectations till last season but point 2 failed miserably. There was no other thing in the show that made me laugh. It was just small nice chuckles, but no hysterical laughters.
Friends on the other hands, has so many things which made me laugh like crazy. If you are sick and tired of joey/pheoby stupidity then you have chandler with amazing jokes. If you are sick and tired of him then Ross (which i believe did the best acting) has his body language and nerdiness there. There were lots of things in friends that has made me laugh madly.
I have used so many chandlers joke in my real life but i have never use any of HIMYM jokes, other than these 3 "Suit UP" , "Challenge Accepted" or "This is going to be leg-WAIT FOR IT-endary".
p.s: I should pull barney sometime, otherwise i am going to remain single.

All I am saying is that you need bit of a drama in your lives to understand the comedy of HIMYM. It teaches you a lot, It teaches you how much easy sometimes it becomes leaving past in the past and moving forward and you get that barney, Robin teaches you how much tougher it becomes to let go the people, most important to you to pursue what you truly want from life, ted teaches you that things may not work out every single time because they aren’t supposed to but they eventually lead you to the thing dearest to you, Like Ross said its not always about hanging out at Central Perk at 4 in the evening, there’s so much to life beside being in a relationship or having really cheesy friends which certainly do not exist, and that’s my take on it. I don’t care if the mother is Helen of Troy or a someone from ghetto, but the plot leading to it was legen----wait for it---- dary , just finished season season and I really hope it does not have a happy ending to it unlike friends.

I watched HIMYM because my daughter recommended it. Although I enjoyed it very much, I think Friends was better.
They are different though. I don't understand why people keep saying they are similar shows. They are just comedy series about life, people have friends in life and relationships, and that's what you see and laught about on tv. Doesn't mean they are the same series. They are so different.
