How I lost 30lbs in 8 weeks - my tips

Re: How I lost 30 in 8 weeks- my tips

Omg inspiron, I totally needed this right now so thankyou!!! I'm on a mission to lose 1 and a half sone at least before uni starts again at the end of september, and I'm finding it so difficult But this gives me hope! :D

Re: How I lost 30 in 8 weeks- my tips

Could you give some more recipe ideas? It would be sooo helpful! I love the walnut and honey smoothie, gonna try it out tomorrow. What sort of salads would you have for lunch? Did you give up on roti? I'm substituting with whole meal bread Is that ok?

Re: How I lost 30 in 8 weeks- my tips

Hey Princess

Yeah I did give up roti and all breads ( they dont have mothers or grow from the ground :( ) if you really cannot live without bread, try and eat a little in the morning try ad avoid it at night!

For lunch I had all sorts of stuff.....chickpea with chopped onions tomatoes green chillis and sprinkled with chaat masala and lemon juice

I made large batches of grilled chicken and just tossed it into any salad or veges i liked.

tuna and boiled egg salad

I just had fun with it but stuck to my rules.

For dinner today I had Harissa marianded salmon ( made my own harissa paste) with grilled corn on the cob and lots of spiniach to fill me up

Ive also made a large batch of chicken corn soup...no OIL.......basically boil some chicken garlic cloves a piece of ginger and whole garam masala for an hour or so, take the chicken out and let it cool, thicken the stock with corn flour add salt, sqeeze of lime, chopped chillis ( any other very low calorie flavourings e.g. soy sauce) and lots of sweet corn and shred the chicken and add it back in.......so filling.

I know its not yummy desi food...but a little pain for alot of gain.

NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS BEING YOUR IDEAL WEIGHT :)

Re: How I lost 30 in 8 weeks- my tips

Sooo proud of you hun!!! I'm on the road to losing weight but i'm doing it slowly by eating healthy and exercising. It's a hard road and i haven't given up roti or bread but i'm still seeing a loss of 1-2lb a week. I have another 20 lbs to go so im thinking, roll on winter but reading your story has inspired me so much to up the cardio and weight training which i'm lagging on. Awesome progress - I keep looking at my size 8 dress and that totally motivates me!!!

Re: How I lost 30 in 8 weeks- my tips

P.s - does this mean when you go back onto roti or bread you will put some of the weight back on? Or will you not eat it forever? I'm scared that if i cut it out, then restart eating it again i'll be back to where i was hence trying to eat everything but portion control and replacing high fat/high sugar with raw fruits and veggies and grilled etc.

Re: How I lost 30 in 8 weeks- my tips

Hey Puchi Kuchi

you are making good progress :) You dont HAVE to cut out bread and roti esp as you are making progress, everybody has a different body, like carbs stick to me SOOOOOOO much its awful, but i guess if you did you would lose weight more effectively. Definately up the cardio it will help alot too.

Maintaining a low weight for alot of us has to be a whole new lifestyle we adopt, so after losing this weight I do still continue to excercise alot and eat healthy and yes I do eat roti occasionally but either a small portion or not very much of it.

I used to eat alot of roti/chawal etc before and alot of it but now when I do eat it, its not every day and not alot so i have maintained my weight.

I hope that makes sense?

Re: How I lost 30 in 8 weeks- my tips

This is amazing! Thanks for sharing!

Re: How I lost 30 in 8 weeks- my tips

Thanks everybody!!!

something like this a great low fat filling soup ( i wouldnt add any noodles I would add more vege like red peppers and corn to make it more filling )

Re: How I lost 30 in 8 weeks- my tips

OMG inspired me... just what i need i started a post to here, and IA i will want to loose 30 pounds by mid july been working crazy hours but next week i start at the gym.. i know i can do it. I have already started replacing the junk food with fruits... and its done wonders for my skin.

Re: How I lost 30 in 8 weeks- my tips

This is really very helpful. in the last 6 weeks i reduced 4kg but still has to go for 8-10kg till Ramadan begins.

I am very motivated now and the ideas will help for sure.

Re: How I lost 30lbs in 8 weeks - my tips

Ok so I tried sticking to the food rules today and it was SO hard! :( :(
This is what I ate:
Breakfast - walnut smoothie
Lunch - salad with a little shredded chicken and plain yoghurt
Mid afternoon - a very small piece of roti with lamb shorba and lots of lettuce

^ That was actually meant to be my dinner, but at half nine-ish I felt SOOO hungry and a little faint as well. I ended up having chickpeas with salad and I couldn't help eating a couple of bites of my sister's blueberry muffin :(

Inspiron, I'm a little bewildered as to how you had the energy for a 40 min cardio workout with such little food! I didn't have time today to do the workout, but hardly had the energy either! And I was so snappy and bad tempered lol Does it get easier with time?

Re: How I lost 30lbs in 8 weeks - my tips

Hey princess first of all WELL DONE :D you did great for your first day!

In the beginning you do feel very cranky moody tired cant move etc etc, but by day 3-4 things get easier and by day 5 ish I infact started to feel in a quite a good mood.

I used to snack in the middle on peppers and cucumbers esp when I felt not so good.

If you used to eating alot more than that esp carby foods, it does take a while for your body to adjust. But trust me after your body adjusts you start feeling good.

rmemeber to drink alot of water!

poached egg makes a filling snack too.

You will feel a little hungry compared to your normal diet, but if you are reducing how much you eat that is bound to happen.

Re: How I lost 30lbs in 8 weeks - my tips

^ Thankyou. Ok I will stick to it I am determined to shift this weight! :D

Re: How I lost 30lbs in 8 weeks - my tips

Stick at it girl :)

Once you see the results it will be worth it :)

If you do start feeling ill/faint through...do eat ok! just do what you did eat a healthy meal/snack :)

Re: How I lost 30lbs in 8 weeks - my tips

where are the before and after pics?

Re: How I lost 30lbs in 8 weeks - my tips

i don't know what's happened to me. the old me would be like "oh look. eating healthy and exercising leads to weight loss. what a genius idea." but i'm finding it difficult to be mean.
