I was going to make this ‘How has GS benefitted you’ but then i realized some people might have had adverse effects from visiting this site too.
Someone mentioned in another thread that GS is a useless discussion board. I think its a bit more than that. I’m sure many of us can think of atleast one thing that we have picked up from GS.
With me its like, through GS i've
made some great friends including some who i sometimes wonder how i’d do without.
tapped into a huge pool of knowledge and experience of people who are always willing to share their resources and lend a helping hand (comp, C&A and bazaar rock!).
made friends internationally who would be interesting to meet up with if i ever happen to fly their way
learnt some great recipes in Life 2
visited plenty of guppy weddings or weddings in their families and had a great time (translate: free food!)
and plenty other useful tips for example i just found out a tiny amount of acetone added to your car’s gas tank can increase its mileage by up to 30% ! No strings attached! (More about that here)
Basically its all good things. I guess the only bad thing would be i end up spending more time here than i really should.
So, what has GS done/undone for you lately?
Sincerely,
Captain Lota
GS will affect my life from this day forth since i just found out that a tiny amount of acetone added to your car's gas tank can increase its mileage by up to 30% ! No strings attached!
Now how many bottles of nail polish remover should I throw in there? without the container ofcourse.
helps me deal with work boredom…but yes it can get too adictive. about 7 years ago i was checking the boards/chatting during lunch for an hour, through out the day and then all evening..too much!
My Urdu has greatly improved and I've learned a great deal of information (especially regarding religion/culture), and I've met lots of nice/wise/funny people. :)
Great deal of information is passed, besides I spend too much time here, I usually keep one window open for GS , I thought I would restrict myself to Cricketnama only but just couldn’t control
Lota what kind of ahost r u? I asked u a question in ur thread and u didn;t reply. tsk. A tsp of acetone or more? This is for real right? I'll have to sneak to the car while my dad and bro aren't looking to do this so tell me quick.
Well.. if you are living in US, then you don’t have to check the water or oil. You just take your car for service whenever it is due and they change your oil and do everything for you.
Ever read the manual for your car? The instruction booklet for your car, written by the manufacturer, will always tell you that it is recommended to check the oil yourself regularly.
The first thing I do whenever I buy a car (all 2 times) is take the instruction manual, go to the toilet, fill a lota, and relieve myself fully whilst reading the manual. I don’t come out until I’ve read it cover to cover.
Only then am I fully prepared for the responsibility of owning a car.
Yaar when i’ll buy my own car, I wll. But I have never seen my father or brother checking oil or water atleast over here. I know in pakistan they used to…
Initially a time pass which grew into a habit. The habit was life saving during turbulent times with so many sweet friends and advice from those with more experience than myself. Now its great to vent out, read and catch up on....and even though i dont contribute much as before..still nice to see whats happening :)
And Captain Lota jee...i get you mixed up with the Code Red and all these other similar nicked people brigade. So confusing i swear :S
Was there any co-relation between filling the lota and relieving your self and reading the manual ? or you can do all these tasks in any order of convenience ? ( in order to understand manual fully, I mean ) :roman:
