If someone repeatedly breaks my trust or hurts me, I would find it very hard to allow that person to have some kind of role in my life.
Unless the actions of the said person is impacting on mine in a negative fashion, then I would not have a problem with them. I know people who have experimented with drugs and stuff, and whilst those people may be acting in a fashion which goes against one of my values, on the whole they have been some of the kindest and closest people to me. They respect the fact and know that I do not approve of such behaviour so they never do it in my presence. One person even after conversing with me and me offering support to him, has been clean for months now (alhamdulilah).
In some cases, the negatives outweigh the positives in a person, and sometimes it is vice versa.
