Do you have a proper dinner and sit at the dining room table?
Do you sit in the living room and have it while watching TV?
Or is it alone at the computer desk?
What is the dinner routine at your house?
For my family we have no proper dinner routine Everyone in my family has different schedules so usually a hot dinner is ready by 5:00 PM, however, everyone eats when they have time. (Both of my parents work, and we have college students.) We eat together on weekends but only if we are not invited or someone is not busy elsewhere.
we eat dinner togetherā¦everyone mostly comes home around 6 pm and then we have our āsupperā. on weekends [SAT or SUN] we have breakfast together at around 10 am. itās our quality family time together.
When we lived in Saudiā¦we always at lunch and dinner together. Since moving to the USā¦we donāt have a proper dinner time as everyone has a different schedule. Itās become the norm so that the idea of everyone eating at the table at the same time (like we used to do) seems kinda strange/awkward.
When I was at home my brothers just ate in their room. The rest of us would eat in the living room and watch tv at the same time. Now I eat along while watching a show or a movie.
dinner is mostly together as a family, at the kitchen table, no TV, computer, etc.
we start eating together, and every one stays in the area until everyone is done.
right after eating the dirty dishes go in the dishwasher, table and countertops get wiped etc etc.
I am sure as kids get older and have after school stuff, it will have some schedule conflicts
but for now, aside from days either of us have work dinners or after work events, dinner is together.
The only part of day when We sit together me huby n our baby since our tv n dinning table in same room so yeah itās wth TV but before marriage in my parents home everyone had different time for dinner because of different schedules only on weekends we used to have dinner to gatherto gather
We have dinner at the dining table every evening. No one (its just me, husband and our 2 year old .. so yeah) gets up until everyone has finished eating. And after dinner we all clean up together. I make my daughter carry her plate and put it in the dishwasher
TV is never on during dinner ..
my husband comes home from work at 6pmā¦we take tea n then we (me husband and our one year old) take dinner together on dining tableā¦at around 8 to 9pmā¦we have dining room and tv lounge combinedā¦
we also have breakfast together at 6amā¦
n its just me n baby at lunch timeā¦
We usually have dinner together, all 5 of us. TV is on sometimes but mostly runs in the background and no one really watches during dinner as weāre busy eating and talking with each other.
together at the dining table with our almost 15 month old in his high chair. We eat dinner between 5-6pm and dont turn on the TV until the kid is in bed and i have tidied up the house like around 8:00/8:30!
During the weekdays everyone has different schedules so it is hard for everyone to eat together.
However during weekends we all eat together, everyone prefers it that way.
The TV is usually on in the beginning but about 5 minutes in mom usually orders to shut it off. Depends what it is onā¦sometimes it goes off sometimes it doesnāt. (Most times it is turned off)
I really like the idea of having dinner together at the dining table:k: but just like redvelvet mentioned I think it would feel ackward for us too because we are not used to it.
We are at the point where there is a huge conflict of schedules.
When the children were younger, we all sat together as a family to eat, yes at the dining table ( in breakfast area), or a ādastaarkhanā on the floor. Never, ever missed a meal together.
Now we have so many schedules which literally change on a daily basis.
If I know that most of the children (seriously) will be home by 5-6, then I will give them their meal. I hate for my children or for one of them to eat by themselves. They will almost always eat together. If DH is coming home earlier than normal, then we will all wait for him, and eat together. We never ate in front of the TV whilst the children were growing up, but now we do. AH, we all talk, watch, argue and chill out together at dinner time.
Growing up, in my family, we all ate at the dining table. Never did we eat in our rooms or separate from one another. Having visited the UK over the summer, it is something that my Mum still does. Meal time, everyone together in the dining room.
Itās only us two and whenever he comes home (heāll usually call/text) I get dinner ready and we eat together, no tv. But if itās late (past 10/11) I will eat myself and give him when he gets home (eating late is baaaaaddd for you!!! )
