I have experienced that first hand. I started construction of a factory in Norriabad on Super Highway. The vadera of the area sent a guy to be hired as watchman so that the construction material does not get stolen. After few days a jeep came with armed men on it and told me that vadera of the area wants to meet you now. You need to follow our jeep to go and see him. I had no choice they were armed I was not.
The vadera offered me tea , talk to me nicely , treated me with respect and demanded 5000 rupees to provide protection. I told him I will arrange the money.
The father of this young vadera was my brother’s neighbor , I told this to that father who said you have no choice but to do what he wants if you want to set up factory in that area.
I told all this to the guy who was owner of that factory. He abandoned that project.
As soon as someone discovers any kind of mineral in Baluchistan the sardars of the area start demanding royalty.
