Not really true as far as Islam is concerned.

Islam as per Quran says Good Christians, Jews and Sabeens who
believe on God
Believe on last day of judgment
Do good, righteous deeds in life

CAN go to heaven.

Al-Baqara #2
Lo! Those who believe (in that which is revealed unto thee, Muhammad), and those who are Jews, and Christians, and Sabaeans - whoever believeth in Allah and the Last Day and doeth right - surely their reward is with their Lord, and there shall no fear come upon them neither shall they grieve. (62)

This Iyat was in contrast to the Jews who believe only they can go to heaven just by the virtue of being Jews.

Okay so the agnostics don’t get a break.

Morality is largely a matter of geography.. original sin lies in hurting others.. everything else is basically invented non sense.
So don’t worry.. as long as you don’t commit the original sin.. you will get the break. Valid for muslim, non muslim, agnostic, atheist, or moon worshipper in African jungles.

he doesn’t know…but it doesn’t bother him because he’s spent 80 years not knowing if God exists or not and life has treated him just fine, according to him anyway.

Bucha.. You will get essence of a lot of things in 3 years when you become a teenager. Until then just keep on liking every post of your chacha psyah even if you don’t understand anything. Who will get a break or not is an exclusive decision of Allah, Bhagwan, Yaweh etc. etc. I have pointed towards the thekedars of religions who are trying to invent non sense on behalf of this poor Chap who seems to be pretty intelligent to create everything around us including us. I am sure He has the intelligence to decide Himself instead of us deciding for Him. Remember Voltaire who said, " world’s first clergyman was born when the first rascal met the first idiot.." I am pretty sure you are not a rascal..

Depends on your perception of good. Mullah Ghazi of Lal Masjid fame was threatening to throw acid on the naked faces of bay-hijab women to create fear on behalf of Allah… He thought he was doing good.. With so much conviction that he gave away his life for this good cause..

The guy was crazy, how can hurting someone else be a good deed. A good deed benefits other beings and for a deed to be not bad, it shouldn’t affect anyone negatively.

Thus the original sin.. Agree with you that the guy was crazy.. But the problem is if he was alone it was enough to put this guy in jail or mental asylum considering the threat he was for the people. This guy was running a seminary with thousands of students whom he was teaching the same stuff. I think the parents who sent their naive children to his seminary should also be considered his partners in crime.

But the kids didn’t know any better. The state failed them. It was the state’s responsibility to educate them, which it didn’t do. The kids had to go somewhere, so they headed to the seminary.

State and parents both.. A lot of parents send these naive kids to such place due to non financial reasons..

Those parents themselves probably never went to school. The state is to blame again.

These parents who themselves never went to school want their kids to get an education and the seminaries are their only option, because they can’t afford private schools for their kids.

I only answered to your comment earlier that every religion thinks followers of other religion will go to hell.

No idea how the discussion has gone from agnostics to talk about criminals here.
