How Do You View Sikhs?

Re: How Do You View Sikhs?

I agree some conversions do take place. I have heard of instances where Sikhs abducted Muslim women during partition, who would have lived behind as Sikhs. Anyways the major demographic shift in 47 was the transfer of population on both sides of the province.

Re: How Do You View Sikhs?

The conversions took place before partition…primarily of jatts…many jutts can trace sikh lineage…like their pardada or someone was a sikh… that kind of points towards 19th century… haven’t heard of any conversions during 20th century.

full of life and proud of their roots ..

Re: How Do You View Sikhs?

Interesting replies. As a Pakistani Punjabi, do you feel closer to non Punjabi Pakistanis or Sikhs?

Re: How Do You View Sikhs?

As humans?

Re: How Do You View Sikhs?

super humans or sub humans?

Re: How Do You View Sikhs?

I met several sikhs, had good relations with everyone, but never felt any affinity whatsoever. I think sikh people have sort of superiority complex over Pakistanis. However, I think good relations between Pakistani Punjabis and sikhs would be a nice thing to counter extremism in Pakistan.

Re: How Do You View Sikhs?

What kind of stupid question is this?
Sikhs are humans, some are good, some are bad.

Re: How Do You View Sikhs?

In my experience indian punjabi language is 100 times more rude than pakistani punjabi. In pakistani punjab educated people have a more decent language and better manners but for sikhs and indian punjabis i’ve not being able to distinguish between educated and un-educated lot. I have same views about their work ethics.

Re: How Do You View Sikhs?

Just view them as a normal human being.

Re: How Do You View Sikhs?

How is a language ‘rude’? Why is punjabi language rude? Indian punjabis speak the pure punjabi. It’s all in people’s head that it’s rude and indecent. I love how indian punjabis stick to their roots and don’t feel ashamed of their language. Atleast most of them.

Unfortunately a huge group of pakistanis (including the punjabis) have this mindset that punjabi sounds ‘paindoo’ and illitrate. Even if you speak ‘decent punjabi’ (which according to you is also rude) they will gniffle and behave retartedly.

While speaking punjabi when I was little so many times I have been corrected by confused punjabi relatives: “beta, ‘thallay’ ni aakhi da. ‘Neechay’ honda ae. The ‘uttay’ ni aakhi da, ‘oopar’ aakhi da ae. It sounds rude. Log kehn ge battameez ae.”
Lmao. Eventually you start believing that crap. Makes no sense at all.

I know people who start speaking urdu to each other, or pretend they arent good at punjabi when they are around outsiders. So sad and pathetic.

Re: How Do You View Sikhs?

I think Sikh people are really sweet. And I think they are really hard working. Whenever I visit the largely Sikh populated areas, I can see old people bicycling, and walking all the time.

Re: How Do You View Sikhs?

as homo sapiens

Re: How Do You View Sikhs?

They are funny, jolly people. I have had few encounters with Sikhs.

Somehow I have a feeling that despite religious differences, they do not like Hindu majority in India or Hindus anywhere in the world but feel more comfortable with Muslims or Pakistanis.

How do I view Sikhs…? V

Hmm I use eyes, unless they are very far in which case binoculars and telescope etc come in handy.

Re: How Do You View Sikhs?

^ Ha Ha!. Sikhs in your neighborhood should keep their window blinds down at least at night.
