Re: How Do You View Sikhs?
I live with a Sikh from Punjab and they are totally different from us and No I dont feel any affinity with them
Re: How Do You View Sikhs?
I view them with my eyes.
And yes apart from religion, they are ‘just like us’ Pakistani punjabis.
Re: How Do You View Sikhs?
No there is a vast difference between their Punjabi and Our Punjabi
Dont you think so
Re: How Do You View Sikhs?
What differences exactly do you mean?
Re: How Do You View Sikhs?
I often view Sikhs with turbans. I hear that’s part of their religion.
Re: How Do You View Sikhs?
Like in speaking and they use many different words
Well I have experienced with my Sikh friend
Re: How Do You View Sikhs?
Yeah ofcourse there are slight differences in the pronunciation and language but overall I don’t see much differences.
Re: How Do You View Sikhs?
Exactly!
Re: How Do You View Sikhs?
Well I feel more at home in Somalian mosque, being around Somalian then I did with sardars. Same language is just an illusion.
Re: How Do You View Sikhs?
Why is it an illusion. I have some sikhni aqcuintances, and have talked to random sikh people. Didnt feel that much of a difference.
Re: How Do You View Sikhs?
Where do you currently reside?
Re: How Do You View Sikhs?
I am glad they visit Pakistan on pilgrimage every year from all over the world and leave with a good experience.
Re: How Do You View Sikhs?
lovely people. open and full of life. missing the kaur.
Re: How Do You View Sikhs?
they are just human beings like you and I…we shouldn’t look at people as what they are, we must rather look at them as who they are.
i had a few contacts with a few Sikhs both in India and in Canada. i think they are very decent, compassionate and hard-working people. i had immense appreciation when i saw a group of Sikhs standing in front of a Gurdwara, in 50 degrees Celsius heat, serving users of the intercity highway with lemonade, sharbat and small snacks. they also offered food inside the Gurdwara to anyone who would want to have.
in their Gurdwara kitchen men, women, young, old, poor and rich working selflessly to feed the strangers. unke yahaN langaR sab ke liye khulaa rahtaa hai! ![]()
Re: How Do You View Sikhs?
I have quite a few Sikh friends…have been invited to their Gurdwaras and langars for weddings and funerals numerous times. I don’t have a problem with them at all.
Re: How Do You View Sikhs?
haza kullun haramunn!!
Re: How Do You View Sikhs?
Arabi zabaan meN kah kar apnii baat ko kia deenii fatwa banaa kar pesh kiyaa hai? ![]()
Re: How Do You View Sikhs?
Le Pak is correct. The punjabi that the Sikhs speak is very much similar to one spoken in pakistani punjab. If you go down to Faisalabad, you might think you are in Jallandhar. You will hear things like,* mein uthay jaao, ki haal hega.
*However there are certain words that they use in Indian Punjab which are borrowed from Sanskrit and sound alien to us Pakistani Punjabis.
There are ofcourse some dissimilarities in customs and rituals, like for example Vasakhi mela.
I have found Sikhs to be very hardworking and self-reliant people. And they take pride in their* poonjabiness* as opposed to their western counterpart (this could be subject of a different thread).
Re: How Do You View Sikhs?
I agree…the Sikh families I know and friends I made in college are extremely hard working, not to mention loving and fiercely loyal.
And some of the best food I’ve had has come the kitchens of my Sikh friends…and they taught me to dance too ![]()
