How do you serve guests at eid?

Re: How do you serve guests at eid?

:hayaa:

Yeah, I am coming over :cb:

Okay so we actually do an Eid brunch after namaz. Either at my sister’s place or we go out.

In the evening, its tradition to go out and do something like bowling or movies. I don’t know why but its always been that way.

Re: How do you serve guests at eid?

I would love to do this one day inshAllah...

My mom did this before I was married...she'd make biryani, "raita", some sweet dish and other stuff that I don't remember right now.

But I'd love to host an open house one day....

Re: How do you serve guests at eid?

We have an open house/ open invitation brunch every Eid. We'll invite people a month to few weeks in advance, and my dad will tell people during Eid Namaz.

So the brunch is from right after namaz to when ever people stop coming.

Some of the food we have is halwa, sheer khorma, fresh (home made) purri, channay and allou, tandoori naan, sheesh kabobs, grilled chicken, biryani, palak ghosht, mixed veggies, keema salan, baklava, lasagna, baked ziti, and i can't remember the other stuff.

Everything, except the naan, is made at home. We start cooking the night before and keep cooking until right before we start getting ready to go for Eid Namaz. When we come home, mama usually doesn't start making the purris until people start coming. Then she'll periodically make more just to fill the chafing dish.

Then when everyone leaves, we clean up, lock up, and everyone goes right to bed!! Lol

I'll take pictures this year and share, i'A. :)

Re: How do you serve guests at eid?

we are not having very close friends or relatives here but we will invite our neighbours n we r quite reserved with them too.....most of them r visiting pak on eid so their will be only one or two families...
last year on eid my mil strictly told my husband that she'll not cook food for three days let her take rest...i was so happy to hear that lol.....so i cooked sheer khurma n channa chaat n nothing else.....we just went to take lunch n dinners at resturants n that was our eid lol
but i am planning to cook meals n invite people this time...
