How Do you relate to

Re: How Do you relate to

I like depiction of Muslims in India just after partition in the movie 'Garam Hawa' based on Ismat Chughtai's short story. The story was good and Balraj Sahni did amazing job. Movies like Fiza, Zubaida, Mammo also had balanced Muslim characters

Abdul of Shaan, Naam abdul hai sabki khabar rakhta hoon.
Amitabh Bacchan in Colie, and the muslim who suggests amitabh about Billa number 786 in deewar

Re: How Do you relate to

I am seeing always a competition staying between Islam and most the medias of Bollywood and Hollywood. They are always trying to prove the rules of Islam as illogical. They are saying that wearing dresses as Islam is violating the independence of women and also violating their rights. In Islam it's instructions for Muslims to respect women always. The dresses allowed by Islam is also for making them more respectful. We should be aware of this always and to practice the dress culture of Islam always.

Re: How Do you relate to

Close enough. It’s Nellore, Andhra Pradesh. The pictures are of a government organized event for enrollment of Muslim women in self-help groups.

:rotfl:

Re: How Do you relate to

How this is connected with the representation of Muslims and their culture in Bollywood? :hmmm:

People were complaining that Muslims are shown in negative light because of Burka. Burka is becoming very common among Muslim women these days in India. Just becuase Muslim women are shown with burqa in Bollywood movies, it doesnt imply negative portrayal.

Re: How Do you relate to

south india specially telangana and other parts of andhra me muslims hijab zyada use karte hain

Re: How Do you relate to

But not all the Muslim woman wear burqa. Black burqa is area specific 'Hyderababd' IMO. Do you find burqa wearing Muslim ladies in other Muslim majority cities in India?

Currently I am living in Mumbai. Over last ten years, there has been a proliferation of Burkas here. I think this is directly connected to growth of religious channels in India, that are popularizing "correct" interpretation of Islam. Black burqas have traditionally been very popular in Indo-Gangatic belt and Hydrabad region, but nowadays even Tamil Muslim ladies are rejecting their traditional dresses and opting for black burqa/abaya.

Re: How Do you relate to

But Muslim women in Pakistan are tilting towards Abaya and Hijab more than Burqa. BTW, Burqa is sub-continent phenomenon, you won't find even Arab women in Burqa. This again proves that Burqa doesn't have any link with Islam. Its the part of societies, where women are treated like property.

Re: How Do you relate to

One exception are Bohra ladies. There quite a big Bohra community in Mumbai, and I often see ladies dressed like this
