Re: How do you react to a 'Hafiz-e-Quran' RISHTA ?
I am always impressed when I meet someone who is a Hafid/hafida... Because they are potentially more valuable and honorable than I am. That person has taken the time and energy to memorize the words of Allah by heart, they can lead tarawih prayers, they can recite holy verses anytime anywhere. I, on the other hand, am limited to what value I can offer to my community.
Whether they are pious or not is not up to me to decide, but their hearts carry a beautiful gift and has been softened by it. Me, I barely function with my limited memorizations.
Re: How do you react to a 'Hafiz-e-Quran' RISHTA ?
Strange how some people assume that hafiz or hafiza are from the pind and have no education what so ever.. I have seen many hafiz who are actually engineers, businessmen or some of them are doctors. They treat their partners with so much love and respect and always practice it first before shoving it down on people's throat. I have nothing but respect for them. Very dedicated people!

LMAO! I love GS. Personal insecurities about religion awake in such threads :D The responses are brilliant!

they have my respect.
Re: How do you react to a 'Hafiz-e-Quran' RISHTA ?
Can we not just answer the question assuming he/she is a good, normal person? Why must we drag in our phuppo ka beta who's a haafiz and drinks alcohol or chachu ki beti who's a hafiza and extremely conservative? Fair point that they're not always following the Quran properly (my phuppo ka beta* is* a hafiz and not a very good example) but what's with the stereotypes?
I would be pleased to marry a normal human being who happens to be a haafiz-e-Quraan since he automatically takes precendence over the rest of ye freaks. :D runs

Re: How do you react to a 'Hafiz-e-Quran' RISHTA ?
Nakabool Most of Molvies Mullahs left negative image in my mind
When ever i heard some one is Hafiz-e-quran i tried to keep distances
Re: How do you react to a 'Hafiz-e-Quran' RISHTA ?
I have a better idea. Why not become a religious scholar / Hafiz-e-Quran, improve their impression and show the world that not all of them are bad. If it is too late, then encourage one of your sibling/child/relative to become the one you want in the society. I myself have similar plans, inshaAllah.
Re: How do you react to a 'Hafiz-e-Quran' RISHTA ?
Hmmm I have a deep respect for a Hafiz/Hafiza.
However I would not be worthy of marrying a Hafiza, if the offer was made sure I would accept but I would warn them first about what a damned fiend I was and that might help them find someone better.... er suited.
I am too much of a mad pragmatist to deserve such a noble partner... One day I will become Hafiz and then maybe it will be different.
Re: How do you react to a 'Hafiz-e-Quran' RISHTA ?
Can any one just go and become a Hafiz /Hafiza ?
Re: How do you react to a 'Hafiz-e-Quran' RISHTA ?
Yes. You can enroll at a program at any age. My friend is currently doing that [she's around 36] and has 2 children. She has memorized 15 paras already, mashaAllah.

Not excatly like other things in life it take dedication but theres no reason why one person who is commited cannot attain Hifz e Koran, men like me are nothing I have known blind men to learn the Koran by simply knowing the words so who says a man or woman cannot learn Koran by heart.
Re: How do you react to a 'Hafiz-e-Quran' RISHTA ?
To be honest I have never understood the point of reciting something that you can't understand.
An old Muslim lived on a farm with his young grandson. Each morning Grandpa was up early sitting at the kitchen table reading his Noble Qur'an.
His grandson wanted to be just like him and tried to imitate him in every way he could.
One day the grandson asked, "Grandpa, I try to read the Noble Qur'an just like you but I don't understand it, and what I do understand I forget as soon as I close the book. What good does reading the Noble Qur'an do?"
The Grandfather quietly turned from putting coal in the stove and replied, "Take this coal basket down to the river and bring me back a basket of water."
The boy did as he was told, but all the water leaked out before he got back to the house. The grandfather laughed and said, "You'll have to move a little faster next time," and sent him back to the river with the basket to try again.
This time the boy ran faster, but again the basket was empty before he returned home.
Out of breath, he told his grandfather that it was impossible to carry water in a basket, and he went to get a bucket instead.
The Grandfather said, "I don't want a bucket of water; I want a basket of water. You're just not trying hard enough," and he went out the door to watch the boy try again.
At this point, the boy knew it was impossible, but he wanted to show his grandfather that even if he ran as fast as he could, the water would leak out before he got back to the house.
The boy again dipped the basket into river and ran hard, but when he reached his grandfather the basket was again empty.
Out of breath, he said, "See Grandpa, it's useless!"
"So you think it is useless?" The Grandfather said, "Look at the basket."
The boy looked at the basket and for the first time realized that the basket was different. It had been transformed from a dirty old coal basket and was now clean, inside and out.
"Son, that's what happens when you read the Noble Qur'an. You might not understand or remember everything, but when you read the Noble Qur'an, you will be changed, inside and out. That is the work of Allah (SWT) in our lives."
The best way to learn is to share what you have learned and practice it in your life

Uff niksik That wasn't my point !
I did memorize two paras in my school days - then later due to my own stupidity I didnt complete it .
Willing to do it again in near future .
My point is - it takes a dedicated time - which could be from six months to six years - when we respect educated people ( let say a doctor or an engineer) because of their efforts - they put in their studies .
Should we not atleast give the same respect to hufaaZ ?
I mean whether a hafiz/hafiza follows Islam to the Tee or not - thats a different issue !
But atleast start giving the credit where it is due !
So how should One reacts on a Rishta from a hafiz/Hafiza - I say for the start , Just act normal :D

The various ones that creep up in religious threads. Its a trend every time the more religious enlightened individuals post, a plethora of guppies and guppans post to clarify that just because you are religious that does not mean you are a great person, or a great catch etc.
I find the continuation of such a trend over the past 11 years I have been on GS hilarious!
