I really don’t think this sort of thing comes from Islam.. Am pretty sure it’s cultural because other Muslims (for ex what Sara mentioned) don’t think in that way about immediate family.. In Islam there isn’t the concept of needing to wear a dupatta or cover your arms and legs (I don’t mean show everything obviously) in front of fathers and brothers.. If a girl chooses to though that’s fair enough..

If I thought there was a risk of something happening I wouldn’t have my husband or son under the same roof as myself let alone any female kids.. In that case I believe the problem would lie with the male rather than the female and that they need psychiatric help..

(Yes, I’m serious about the last bit)
